Cleaning of the MAYFIELD Infinity XR2 Skull Clamp
Visually confirm that there are no Skull Pins in the rocker arm or Torque Screw
before removing the rocker attachment. It is safest to completely remove the ratchet
extension from the clamp before removing Skull Pins or changing rocker arms.
Care should be taken to read completely this section on Cleaning, Disinfection
and Decontamination of your MAYFIELD Infinity XR2 equipment. It is important
to know what method of cleaning/decontamination is needed based on what type
of debris exposure the equipment has received. This is especially important when
there is the possibility of exposure to a persistent pathogen that is resistant to
normal cleaning and disinfection methods. Equipment with this exposure should
be processed per the steps in the Decontamination Section. Integra does not make
any claims regarding the effectiveness of the decontamination processes listed in
deactivating pathogens, but rather, we are indicating that the device can withstand
these procedures with minimal loss of function.
The MAYFIELD Infinity XR2 Skull Clamp must be thoroughly cleaned after each use. Scrub each
component with a soft brush. Using a neutral pH detergent is recommended. However, the Infinity
XR2 Skull Clamp can withstand detergents that fall within pH ranges of 3-11. The directions for use for
the selected detergent should be followed for this device. Clean thoroughly to remove any traces of
blood and/or debris and to prevent such blood or debris from interfering with function or movement.
Repeating this washing process is recommended until the device is visibly clean. Rinse thoroughly with
clean water to remove all traces of detergent.
NOTE: The use of highly alkaline agents may cause some components to tarnish and/or corrode.
While this does not affect the performance of the device we recommend that you use an acidic
neutralizing agent immediately after each use as this will help keep your device looking like new.
