Material composition
circaid reduction kit upper leg
54% Polyurethane
42% Nylon
4% Elastane
This garment does not contain latex.
Step 1:
This upper leg component consists of
two pieces: a large "body" portion that
has numbers printed along the top and
bottom edge and a smaller "spine"
portion. Separate the two pieces from
one another and lay them out flat so
that the number markings along the
bottom and top edge of the body portion
face up. Disengage the bottom most
band to view all of the number markings
along the bottom edge. Do not flip the
spine portion upside down.
Step 2:
Measure the patient's circumference 15
cm above the patella E2, in centimeters.
Measure the patient's circumference at
the groin G.
If the E2 and G measurements exceed
70 cm and 80 cm respectively, a wide
legging will be needed, which includes
an extension piece. To use the extension,
align the 70 cm mark on the base of the
component body with the 70 cm mark
along the body of the extension piece.
Do the same thing with the 80 cm mark
along the top edge of the component.
Step 3:
Using the E2 circumference
measurement first, place the bottom
left edge of the spine portion on top of
the corresponding number marking
along the bottom edge of the body
portion. Repeat this step with the top
left edge of the spine portion for the G
measurement. Once the top and bottom
spine tabs have been secured, adjust the
center spine tab to create a smooth
curve.
Each patient's leg measurements will
produce different spine angles. There is
no one correct spine shape. The spine
tabs do not need to reach the top or
bottom edge of the body portion. In
those cases, the top and bottom tabs
should visually connect to the correct
number markings. The garment may no
longer lay flat once the spine has been
set. This is to be expected when dealing
with more extreme spine angles.
Step 4:
Cut the excess material off of the body
portion of the garment leaving about 5
cm of excess. Ensure that enough of an
overlap is left as not to expose any of the
spine hook and to allow for potential
spine adjusting.
Note:
When dealing with more extreme spine
angles, excess material extending
beyond the top of the spine portion is to
be expected. Using the top of the spine
portion as a guide, cut off the excess
material.
