FLASH EXPOSURE COMPENSATION

The automatic flash exposure of most cameras is
harmonized to a reflection factor of 25% (average
reflection factor of flash shots).
A dark subject that absorbs a lot of light or a bright or
strongly reflective subject, or a main subject that is
much darker than its surroundings (e.g. back-lit shots)
can result in overexposure or underexposure of the
subject.
To compensate for this effect, the flash exposure can
be adjusted manually with a compensation value in
the
sation value depends on the brightness of the subject
or the contrast between the (main) subject and
picture background!
Compensation values from -3 to +3 aperture values
(EV) can be set in third stages on the flash unit.

Notes:
• Flash exposure compensation in the
modes can only work if the camera supports
setting a compensation value on the flash unit (see
camera manual)!
If not, the compensation value set remains
ineffective.
In some camera types the manual flash exposure
compensation must be set on the camera. No
compensation value is shown in the flash unit
display.
• Exposure compensation by changing the lens
aperture is not possible since the camera's
automatic exposure, in turn, views the changed
aperture as the normal working aperture. When
setting a compensation value the range indicator in
the display can change and the compensation
value displayed (depending on the camera type)/.
