AUTOMATIC HIGH-SPEED SYNCHRONIZATION

TTL-HSS
Various cameras support automatic high-speed
synchronization
(see camera manual). With this
HSS
flash mode it is possible to use a flash unit even with
lower shutter speeds than the flash synchronization
time.
This mode is of interest in portrait shots in very bright
ambient light, for example, if the depth of field is to
be limited by a wide open aperture (e.g. F 2.0).
The flash unit supports high-speed synchronization
in the
and
flash modes.

For physical reasons, high-speed synchronization
sometimes severely limits the guide number, and thus
also the range of the flash unit! Therefore, note the
range indicator in the display of the flash unit!
High-speed synchronization
is automatically
HSS
carried out if the exposure control sets a lower
shutter speed than the flash synchronization time on
the camera, manually or automatically. Note that the
guide number of the flash unit is also dependent on
the shutter speed in high-speed synchronization:
the lower the shutter speed, the lower the guide
number.
Automatic high-speed synchronization is set on the
camera (see camera manual).
is then also shown
HSS
in the flash unit display.
AUTOMATIC FLASH MODE
In automatic flash mode
the photo sensor of the
A
flash unit
measures the light reflected from the

subject. The photo sensor has a measuring angle of
approx. 25° and only measures while it is emitting
light itself.
If there is sufficient light, the flash unit's automatic
exposure switches the flash light off.
Teh photo sensor must be aimed at the subject.
Setting the operating mode
1. Switch on the flash unit with the
• The start screen appears.
The flash unit always switches on in the mode
most recently used.
2. On the touch display, press the displayed mode
