is detected, the user is obliged to correct such
defects immediately, and not to use the chain
hoist until this has been inspected and, if
necessary, repaired by a qualified person.
The maintenance or inspection intervals have
been set for an electric chain hoist with chain,
which renders its service in the MEDIUM mode of
operation. Should the chain hoist be employed
under a more severe mode (HEAVY or VERY
HEAVY) and if the average performance time
per day be higher. The inspection intervals must
be proportionally shortened.
The electric chain hoist URREA takes oil of for
life, so that it is not necessary its reinstatement.
The chain is the main component of the chain
hoist that requires a permanent lubrication.
The maintenance works will be carried out with
the frequency indicated in the chart 15, and in
the way in that it is indicated next:
1. Check for the correct operation of the
brake:
Start up and stop the motor, 2 or 3
consecutive times, by means of the control (push
button device) on the HOISTING and LOWERING
functions, without a load. When the push
button control is no longer pressed, right at that
moment, the chain hoist should issue a "clacking"
noise. This noise takes place due to the pressure
of the spring between the adjustment of the gap
and the hood of the motor.
If this noise cannot be heard, HOIST and LOWER
the hook, with load, approximately 500 mm.
When this push button is no longer pressed,
when the motor stops, check to see if load
maintains its position.
If the load slightly descends when the motor is at
a standstill, it is necessary to regulate the brake
following the instructions.
2. Check for the correct perfomance of the
load limiter:
Lift and lower the hook, with a
load that equals the rated load of the chain hoist,
approximately 500 mm. When the push button is
held down, with the motor going, observe if the
loads is lifted. If the load is not lifted, or else,
it slightly descends, with the motor going, it is
necessary to regulate the clutch.
3. State of the load Hoo
load hook is in good condition, and that it does
not have cracks, notches, or grooves, permanent
k: Check to see if the
distortion or external damages. Test that the
safety latch is installed on the hook and that
closes correctly.
4. Check the load chain:
visual check made by the operator or another
person designated, but it isn't necessary to
registrate it.
Check firstly the chain in all it's length, to detect
signes of wearing, deformation or outside
damages. After this, swith on the chain hoist
without load and then with the nominal load of
the chain hoist, in the two directions (going up
and going down), looking at the chain and the
sheave in both directions.
If the chain becomes clogged, it jumps or else
is making a lot of noise, verify that it is clean
and properly lubricated. Should the anomaly
persist after lubrication, inspect the chain and
surrounding parts, following instruction as per
periodic inspection bellow.
NOTE: In order to lubricate the chain, use oil
in accordance with DIN 51502 060 (00) G-10
Regulations. The cleanliness and lubrication of
the chain must be kept up on a permanent basis,
according to the frequency of use of the chain
hoist and the working environment.
5. Checking the loading chain:
inspection: Complete examination carried out
by a person designated for this job, with records
external conditions which will serve as a base for
a continuous evaluation.
Chains, in order that thet may be inspected,
will be cleaned by any procedure that does not
damage the same. Methods to be avoided are
those which may entail fragility by hydrogen (for
example, immersion in an acid, or basic, bath),
or excessive heating, metal becoming detached,
or the same being displaced when concealing
crecks, or other surface defects.
The inspector must count on adecuate lighting.
All the chain must be examined on a link by link
basis, in order to detect cracks, grooves, notches,
distortions, signs of corrosion, deposit of foreign
matter, or signs of wear between links.
In order to check the increase of length or
lengthening of the chain, as well as wear in the
areas of contact with adjacent links, carry out
the following instructions:
a) Keeping the chain taught over a flat base,
measure the lenght of the same on 11 links
