Stand the lawnmower on an
even surface.

Check the terrain where you will
be using your lawnmower and
remove all obstacles and objects,
which could get caught and then
ejected.
If the aerator cylinder is

activated and the cutting
height setting lower than 55 mm,
never start the appliance on
a solid surface (e. g. tiles, floor
slab, tarred or paved routes,
yard entrances, etc.), as the aer-
ator springs have contact with
the ground.
To start, set the throttle (fig. A,
item 6) to Position Max. Push the
primer (fig. A, item 14) 5 times
when the motor is cold, this is
not necessary if the motor is
warm. The motor is released for
starting by pressing the safety
hoop (fig. A, item 4) towards the
8. Information Concerning Correct Mowing
General Lawn Care Information
To achieve a manicured lawn,
we recommend mowing once
a week if possible. Frequent cut-
ting strengthens the short stalks
of grass and makes them resist-
ant. Short cuttings (up to about
1 cm in length) can be left on
the ground after cutting. Longer
cuttings must be removed to
stop the lawn turning yellow and
matting.
Cut the lawn in spring for the
first time as soon as the grass
begins to grow and it is possible
to walk on the lawn. If the grass
has grown too long, cut in one
direction first with a high cutting
height adjustment and then
across this at the required cutting
height.

guide bar, pull the starter handle
(fig. A, item 7) slightly until the
starter engages. Start the motor
by pulling the starter handle out
rapidly. Then allow the starter
handle to slowly return.
If the cutting tool or the aerator
cylinder become blocked by
a foreign body or the motor be
overloaded, release the safety
hoop (fig. A, item 4), the motor
then switches off automatically.
Remove the foreign body if nec-
essary.
Warning! Do not tilt the
A
lawnmower when starting
the motor. If you do need to tilt
the lawnmower for some reason
while starting the motor, in this
case, press down gently on the
guide handle and tilt the mower.
Only tilt the mower as far as is
absolutely necessary and only
lift the front edge of the mower
(the edge that is furthest away
from you).
Mowing and Aerating
When aerating and mowing,
we recommend guiding the
lawnmower in lines which are
as straight as possible. The rows
should always overlap by a few
centimetres so that no strips are
left standing. Ensure that you cut
with sharp, perfect blades so
that the blades of grass are not
shredded and the lawn does not
turn yellow.
Note:
On slopes the cutting path should
always be across the slope.
The mower can be prevented
from sliding down the slope
by angling it upwards. Do not
mow excessively steep slopes
and be particularly careful if you
change the direction in which
you are mowing on the slope.
Warning! Do not leave the
A
engine running indoors.
Danger of poisoning due a build-
up of dangerous to carbon
monoxide gas!
Switching Off
You can stop the engine by
releasing the safety handle
(fig. A, item 4). An integrated
brake stops the cutting tool rotat-
ing within 3 seconds.
Warning! the cutting tool
A
runs after the motor stops!
Taking the wheel drive into
operation
To activate the wheel drive, the
coupling link (fig. A, item 5) is to
be pulled up towards the guide
bar. The wheel drive is deacti-
vated by releasing the coupling
link (fig. A, item 5).
Clean the underside of the
mower housing regularly.
Deposits of grass must be
removed. Deposits make it diffi-
cult to start the mower, impair
the quality of the cut and the
ejection of the grass.
Mowing with the aerator roller
The Hattrick is a unique lawn-
mower in that it has an aerator
roller which can be switched on
and which removes moss and
matted grass during mowing.
The Hattrick is not a cultivator
which is used once or twice
a year. It aerates the lawn effec-
tively by repeated use and
removes a very great deal of
moss and matted grass in this
way. The aerator depth is
adjustable and is regulated via
the central cutting height adjust-
