7. Putting into operation

Always carry out a visual inspec-
tion before using your lawn-
mower to ensure that cutting tool,
retaining bolts and entire cutting
unit are not worn or damaged.
Always replace worn or dam-
aged cutting tools with new parts
to ensure the lawnmower is
properly balanced (see Mainte-
nance, Care and Storage).
Warning! The motor is
A
delivered without any oil
in the crank housing. Therefore,
before use it is imperative that
the motor crank housing be filled
with 10 W 30 motor oil. To do
so, place the appliance in a hori-
zontal position and clean the
area surrounding the oil filling
hole. (Please adhere to the motor
manufacturer's instructions.
The original instruction manual is
included.)
Check the oil level in the motor
each time before mowing your
lawn. To do this, position the
lawnmower so that it is horizon-
tal and remove the dipstick.
The oil level on the dipstick must
be between the Min (ADD) and
Max (Full) markings.
We recommend fuelling your
lawnmower with two-star petrol.
Warning! Petrol is
A
extremely flammable.
Only store petrol in containers
intended for this purpose.
Only pour petrol into the tank
when outdoors and do not
smoke while filling the tank.
Fill the tank before starting the
motor. Do not open the fuel cap
or pour in petrol when the motor
is running or when the lawn-
mower is hot.
If petrol overflows from the tank,
do not attempt to start the motor.
Instead, move the lawnmower
away from the area where you
spilt the petrol. Do not attempt
to start the motor until the petrol
vapours have evaporated.
If you need to empty the fuel
tank, this must be done outdoors.
For safety reasons, always install
a new fuel cap and other tank
caps if they are damaged.
To prevent injury due to burns
keep the motor / exhaust and the
area around the fuel tank free
of grass, leaves and escaping
grease (oil).
Only mow your lawn in daylight
or when your lawn is lit by ample
artificial lighting. If possible,
avoid using the lawnmower when
the grass is wet. Always ensure
you have a sturdy stance when
working on slopes and inclines.
Push the lawnmower at walking
pace. Be particularly careful
when turning the lawnmower or
pulling it towards you. Always
stop the cutting tool before tilting
the lawnmower to move it over
a surface other than grass and
when moving the lawnmower to
and from the area of lawn you
are planning to mow.
Never use the lawnmower if
the safety devices or protective
grilles are damaged, or if the
installed safety devices, e. g. baf-
fle plates and / or grass catching
devices have been removed.
Warning! Do not remove
A
or bridge the safety devices
installed by the manufacturer.
This will prevent the lawnmower
switching off automatically and
may cause serious injury.
Keep your hands and feet away
from the internal housing and
grass ejection chute when the
motor is running.
Always wear sturdy shoes and
long trousers when mowing.
Never mow your lawn when
barefoot or when wearing only
lightweight sandals.
Adjusting the cutting height
You can adjust the cutting height
using the central adjusting bolt
(fig. A, item 8). The cutting
height set can be read off the
display in 5 mm graduations.
Warning! Switch off the
A
motor before adjusting the
cutting height. When setting the
lawnmower to a lower cutting
height, ensure that the blades of
the cutting tool do not touch the
ground if the ground is uneven.
Switching on the Aerator Roller
Only switch on the aerator roller
with the motor switched off.
Only switch the aerator roller on
within the cutting height range
from 30 – 55 mm. The working
height of the aerator roller is set
via the cutting height adjustment
(fig. A, item 8). The care table
(in item 8. Information Concern-
ing Correct Mowing) contains
the various lawn care options.
The aerator roller is switched on
with the motor stationary by turn-
ing the rotary switch (fig. A,
item 9) to position 1.
Turn the rotary switch to position
0 to turn the aerator roller off.
The aerator cylinder is to be
deactivated at the end of the
operation or when transporting
the appliance.
Starting the lawnmower
Carefully start the motor or press
the starter switch according to
the instructions provided by the
manufacturer. Keep your feet
