Introduction
1.1
Due use
This manual has been prepared in order to support the service
staff during the troubleshooting process and repair works at the
WA 9xx series test bench.
1.2
Operation
In case of required maintenance work, please ensure the proper
connection of the test bench. Before connecting the test bench,
check whether the test bench has been adapted to the approp-
riate supply voltage. The individual supply voltages are listed in
chapter 3.
The test bench should be connected to ground, just like other
electrical devices. Prior to the installation of the test bench and in
order to perform maintenance or repair works at the test bench,
the mains socket as well as the test bench should be inspected
for proper connection to earth, and the lead should be inspected
for continuity.
The ground terminal at the mains plug must not be
removed.
If the test bench is connected to a circuit to which electrical
devices with a strong interfering radiation such as compressors
and large fans have been connected, test bench malfunctions
may occur. In case of a faulty test bench operation after the
connection of the test bench to an already existing network, a
separate mains circuit with a properly grounded socket should be
used. In new buildings, a separate circuit with an appropriate
ground connection should be considered right from the start.
1.3
Safety
When performing maintenance works at the test bench, the
following cautions should be strictly observed:
- Do not remove any floppy disks or CDs from the drives and do
not switch off the current as long as the corresponding drive is
still active, i.e. as long as the LED display on the drive is lit.
- Switch off the test bench power supply to install or remove
printed circuit boards.
- When switching printed circuit boards on or off, the test bench
power supply must be switched off.
- Always switch off the test bench power supply to install or
remove connecting cables in the device. This does not apply to
the installation or to the removal of sensor cables, however.
- Also switch off the test bench power supply before carrying out
resistance inspections for sensor or connection cables or
before connecting the wiring harness system.
- Remove the test bench mains plug before starting to work at the
AC circuits. This also applies to the system voltage distribution,
to the screen, printer and the power supply unit assembly.
- When performing maintenance work on PC components, be
sure to wear a grounded bracelet so that statically sensitive
components will not be damaged.
