In case of cable sensors as from firmware 1.1 (see label on the
measuring arm), the sensor type „cable sensors 1.1" must be set
up in the software as from version 1.05.
If the cable sensor as from firmware 1.1 is operated with a software
earlier than 1.05, the sensor type must be set to „radio device".
This has the effect, however, that the radio version WA 920 will be
displayed in the start display. This does not impair the functionality
of the cable device.
The measuring value evaluation is executed by two inclinometers
which have been mounted onto the inclinometer PCB and which
supply the camber (inclination in transverse direction) as well as
the information for the electronic water level (inclination in longi-
tudinal direction) respectively.
A new calibration will become necessary after dismounting an
inclinometer PCB. The new calibration is executed within the
calibration process which is described in the operating instruc-
tions (WA 9XX, 1 689 979 435N). Here, the zero calibration and
the area calibration must be executed with the spacers to be
placed underneath.
The four sensors are equipped with two infrared LED transmitters,
each with corresponding CCD line camera module. One of these
modules is at the end of the transverse camber arm and contacts
the opposite sensor, and the other module is within the sensor
housing and maintains the contact to the front/rear sensor. The
toe-in is measured by means of this toe-in rectangle built around
the vehicle. During the steering routine, the front transverse toe-
in contact is interrupted, but this is compensated by the rear
transverse toe-in connection. Thus, values such as the toe-out on
turns can be measured without electronic turn plate.
This is an decisive advantage of the 8 sensor technology with
regard to the 6 sensor technology which lacks the rear transverse
toe-in.
For the CCD modules / the IR sensor, a calibration is necessary
after removal. During the calibration process, the zero calibration
and that part of the area calibration where mirrors are used relate
to the IR-CCD system.

Sensor accessorie

The scope of delivery of the device comprises the brake pedal lock
1 987 009 A16N and the steering wheel lock 1 987 009 A17N.
Both parts have been completely mounted and are usually dama-
ge-proof. If necessary, they are replaced completely.
The enclosed four universal clamps which are delivered disassem-
bled and have to be mounted first, can be repaired in accordance
with the replacement part list, if they are damaged. In order to
determine whether a repair is necessary, you should know that
possible bends remain uncritical as long as it is possible to
connect the measuring head to the wheel in a firm position without
play, the rest is compensated by the rim run-out compensation.
3.5 WA 020 Retrofit kit 1 987 009 A37N for NTS
The retrofit kit consists of an electrics sheet metal plate on which
the entire electrical system is mounted. The Smart Card Reader is
also mounted on the electrics sheet metal plate. The only diffe-
rence in comparison to the scope of delivery of the WA 020 is that
movable carriage and PC components like PC, monitor, printer etc
are missing.
Apart from that, the components of the WA 020 are of the same
design and have the same functions like the WA 020.

4.1

Operating system for U04 PC

If it is necessary to install the operating system again due to any
reasons, carry out the following steps:
Insert the recovery CD into the PC and then boot the PC from this
CD.
After the boot process, the following screen will be displayed:

1. Abbrechen - Abort
2. System neu aufsetzen - Restore System
Auswahl: 1
In order to cancel this process, confirm the selection 1 (Auswahl:
1) with the Enter key.
It is possible to set the selection to 2 by entering the number 2 or
by pressing the down-arrow key. The process is started after
confirmation with the Enter key.
The following message will be displayed on the screen:
VORSICHT!! System wird komplett geloescht!!
CAUTION!! System will be completely erased!!
Weiter-Continue?[J,N]?
After entering „J", the PC will be re-booted.
! During the boot process of the PC, the DELL logo will be
displayed. As soon as this logo is displayed, it is necessary
to remove the CD from the CD ROM drive. If the CD stays in
the drive, you will return to the above mentioned selection
menu.
If the PC has started successfully with the recovery CD, the
following selection will be displayed on the monitor:
