A second green lamp gives information on the activities of the
hard disk.
In the interior of the USB hardware (1 987 009 AE4N), two yellow
LEDs show how many readable Smartcards have been inserted
(0, 1, 2). Furthermore, a green LED indicates whether a contact
with a software has been established.

Sensor diagnosis display
Via Shift-F1 the user changes to the sensor overview display
where the four different sensor signals can be seen.
Independent of the position and the number of the connected
sensors, the inclinometer values are always present (symbols
'camber' and 'water-level'), while the values of the CCD transmit-
ters are only unlike 0, if an IR transmitter is opposite of the
corresponding CCD camera. The display is made in increments,
the 1000...3000 increments correspond to the full measuring
range. In case of longitudinal and transverse toe, the fields next to
the measuring values (field with a red number 1..4) specify a
reinforcing factor. This factor normally is 1, in case of a poor
connection or of a large distance, the value is higher. Measuring
range: inclinometer +/- 10°, toe sensor +/- 25°.

Software level display
You can display the various software levels by pressing the Shift-
F12 key during a running wheel alignment program.
1300 0450
You get a display of the installed software level, of the installed
vehicle database version and of the used Smartcard reader
firmware. These informations are important for using the manuf-
acturer support, if necessary.

Smartcard diagnosis
Enter the following from the main menu: service program /
technical support and then data sheet SmartCard:
Please note that usually there is no secondary Smartcard. There-
fore, a search for such a card is not necessary.
If no primary Smartcard is found, it can be useful to open the
plastic cover of the Smartcard reader (on the USB hardware 1
987 009 AE4N) and to check whether at least the yellow lamp is
lit. If this is not the case, either the USB feed cable is not
connected properly or (which is not very likely) the corresponding
USB port is defective. If this state continues to exist after another
USB port at the PC (at the front, there are another two USB ports
underneath a lid!) and another cable are used, the user should
1312 9990NE
check whether the primary card has been inserted correctly. Its
contacts must point in the direction of the PCB and must fit
precisely to the plug-in connections. The chamfered corner of the
Smartcard cut must point out of the opening.
If this does not resolve the problem, either the Smartcard reader
(1 987 009 AE4N) or the primary Smartcard (1 987 009 AS4N)
is the cause and must be replaced.
