Checking the Battery Level

Switch on Type 3638 A/B using the power switch on the controller's front panel. The battery
symbol on the display indicates the current battery level in percentage.
When the battery is fully charged, the number inside the battery symbol indicates 100%. As the
battery is used, the percentage drops accordingly. When the number is below 30%, it is neces-
sary to recharge the battery.
When using the included external DC battery charger, follow the charger's indicator to see
when the battery is fully charged.
Note: After long-term storage of the unit (more than 6 months), the battery may be fully
discharged. In this case, charge the system for at least 24 hours.
Configuring the Sound Level Meter
The following instructions apply to Sound Level Meter Type 2238, which accompanies Exhaust
Noise Inspector Type 3638 A (Sound Level Meter Type 2238 is an optional accessory with Type
3638 B).
To set up Type 2238's sound level meter application:
1) On Type 2238, press
2) Select: Application. Then set the parameter to: Basic SLM.
To set up Type 2238's communication interface:
1) Press
on Type 2238 again to get the Setup menu.
2) Select: Serial Interface. Then set the following parameters:
Baud Rate: 9600
Handshake: Hardwire

. You will get the Setup menu.
