Setting the RPM Tolerance Level
Type 3638 A/B has predefined RPM trigger values (the RPM value which triggers sound level
measurement), which differ for 2-wheel and 4-wheel vehicles. A 4-wheel vehicle's trigger value
is required to be at 3/4 the engine's maximum net power (see the relevant manufacturer's
specifications). A 2-wheel vehicle's trigger values are required to be at 1/2 of the engine's
maximum net power. You will determine this criteria during measurement setup (see Chapter 3).
However, difficulties in measuring RPM in the field, may make it necessary to adjust the RPM
tolerance. To do so, try the following:
1) In the advanced settings menu, select the sub-menu System Setup using
to start configuration.
2) Continue to press OK until you come to the RPM Tolerance parameter.
3) Tolerances can be up to 10% over predefined values. Use
centage amounts.
4) Press OK to confirm the desired selection. You will proceed to the next parameter. You
must go through all parameters in the System Setup sub-menu in order to exit the
advanced settings menu. Press C.
