Spark plug

Remove the spark plug
Remove the service cover (Fig. 20/1) from the pump.
Remove the spark plug cap (Fig. 21/2) from the spark plug.
Remove the dirt present around the spark plug.
Remove the spark plug with the spark plug spanner (Fig. 21/1) supplied.
Inspect the spark plug visually: clean or replace.
Clean the spark plug
Remove any carbon deposit from the electrode using a wire brush.
Use a feeler gauge to check the distance between the electrodes (Fig. 22). It should be 0.6 to
0.7 mm. If necessary, adjust the electrode distance.
Replace the spark plug
Replace the spark plug if:
-
The porcelain insulation is damaged or torn;
-
The electrodes are considerably burned in;
-
At least once a year or earlier if there is a reason for it (a burned in or wet spark plug causes a
weak spark which hinders the ignition).
NOTICE
Use the correct spark plug type NGK CR5HSB.
Install the spark plug
Turn the spark plug manually into the engine block.
Use the spark plug spanner to fasten the spark plug.
NOTICE
After being screwed in by hand with a spark plug spanner, a new spark plug should be
turned another 180° to push in the sealing (Fig. 22/1).
A used spark plug should be turned another 45° to 90°.
