Maintenance and Care

DANGER
Always disconnect the mains plug and allow
the machine to cool down before performing
any maintenance work.
Allow the accessory parts to dry completely
before storing them.
! Do not place the brushes onto the bris-
tles during the cooling and drying proc-
ess to avoid a deformation of the bristles.
! Use a moist cloth for cleaning the ma-
chine from the outside. Avoid using any
solutions or cleaning agents as they can
damage the plastic surfacce.
! Follow the instructions in the section
"Storing the Appliance" for cleaning the
water filter container and for cleaning or
replacing the foam filter (21).
Maintenance
! Check the washers in the steam plug
(B1) at regular intervals. Replace them if
necessary. Carry out the same checks
for the connecting washers of the steam
suction pipe (C) and the handle (A).
Descale the steam boiler
Note: If you always use usual commercial
distilled water it is not necessary to descale
the boiler.
As limescale builds up on the boiler walls,
we recommend to descale the boiler in the
following intervals (RF=reservoir fillings):
Degree of hardness
I
soft
II
medium
III
hard
IV
very hard
Note: Please contact your Conservancy
Board or the local water supply company to
inquire about the hardness of your water.
" Disconnect the mains plug from the
socket.

" Completely empty the steam boiler.
" We recommend to descale the boiler us-
ing the Kärcher bio-descaler RM 511.
This bio-descaler is based on citric acid
and is, thus, completely biodegradable.
WARNING
Only use products approved by Kärcher to
exclude any damages of the appliance.
" Completely dissolve the content of one
bag of Kärcher bio-descaler (RM 511) in
1.2 litres of warm water.
Fill this solution into the steam boiler and
allow to react for approximately 8 hours.
WARNING
Do not screw the steam boiler cap on the ap-
pliance during the descaling. Do not use the
steam cleaner as long as there is descaling
agent in the boiler.
" Empty the descaling solution after 8
hours. A small amount of the solution will
remain in the boiler. Therefore, you
should rinse the boiler two to three times
with cold water to remove any residues
of the descaler.
" The steam cleaner is now ready for use
again.
HEPA filter
The machine is equipped with a HEPA filter
(15) that you can clean under flowing water.
Proceed as follows to clean the filter.
" Remove the water filter container (17)
according to the instructions in the chap-
ter "Filling the water filter container".
" Lift the unhooking lever (16) of the HEPA
filter and remove the filter from its posi-
tion (Fig. 12).
KF
" Rinse the HEPA filter under cold flowing
water. Shake the HEPA filter carefully
90
after cleaning so that any residual dirt or
75
excess water is removed.
50
Note! Let the HEPA filter dry but keep it
away from any sources of light or heat.
Insert only the dry HEPA filter back into
the machine.
! Replace the HEPA filter if found to be
damaged.
