6.10.1 Disassembly
1. 1. To disassemble the alternator, put the alternator in
a vertical position with the side of the coupling discs
to the top;
2. Remove the coupling discs (2);
3. Remove the whole rotor by using an eyebolt with the
same thread as that of the center hole of the shaft
end, lifting it with a hoist;
4. Mark the position of the ND-end shield (11) in relation
to the frame (18). So the original alignment and
optimal between these parts will be guaranteed;
5. Place the alternator in the horizontal position on a
base so that the feet and flange will be suspended;
6. Remove the cover of the terminal box (9), remove the
cables connecting the main terminal block (8), cables
of the voltage regulator (7) and of the exciter (12);
7. Loosen the screws that fasten the terminal box (10) to
the ND-end shield (11) and remove it;
8. Remove the screws that hold the ND-end shield to
the frame;
9. Using a rubber hammer, remove the ND-end shield
making sure that all connecting cables are released,
thus, preventing them from being damaged;
Likewise, if necessary, remove the front flange (4).
NOTE
To disassemble the alternators with double
bearing (constructive form B35T) first the
flange and the D-end shield must be
removed.

6.10.2 Assembly
1. Check if machined parts of the frame and of the
flange and ND-end shield are clean and with
corrosion protection;
2. With the frame placed horizontally on a flat surface,
align the marking of the ND-end shield and of the
front flange to the marking of the frame and fit them,
taking appropriate care with the cables of the main
stator and of the of the exciter stator to avoid
damaging them ;
3. Attach the ND-end shield with the corresponding
fixing screws;
4. Fix the terminal box on the ND-end shield;
5. Put the alternator in a vertical position with the flange
side up;
6. Insert the complete rotor within the frame, taking
appropriate care not to damage the coils of the
exciter rotor and of the main rotor;
7. Put the alternator in horizontal position;
8. Make sure that the bearing is fitted on the seat and
the o'ring (14) is in the correct position;
9. Make the cable connections of the voltage regulator
and exciter according to the alternator wiring diagram
and the voltage regulator manual.
10. Make sure that all connections of main cables,
voltage regulator and exciter are correct.
NOTE
To assemble the alternators with double
bearing (constructive form B35T) the flange
and the D-end shield must also be mounted.
