6.13 DISASSEMBLY OF THE EXCITER ROTOR GTA315 to GTA400
6.13.1 Procedure for withdrawing the exciter rotor
1. Remove the screws (5) that secure the connection cables of the rotor (1) the wheel of diodes and release the cables;
2. Remove the mechanical lock "half-moon" of the fixing screws (2);
3. Remove the fixing screws (2) of the exciter rotor;
4. Placing the two screws (2) into threaded holes (3) and tighten the two screws simultaneously in order to force the fixing
bushing (8) together with the exciter rotor (7) becomes detached from the shaft and can be removed by hand.
6.14 MAINTENANCE PLAN
Verifications and maintenance tasks to perform
Observe any strange noise with the alternator in movement
Inspect ventilation (air flow)
Inspect air filters (if any), clean or replace if necessary
Check insulation resistance
Check and retighten the screws and connection terminals
Check vibration and noise levels
Inspect bearings
Inspect connections of voltage regulator
Clean the alternator inside and outside
Inspect the connections and accessories operation
Inspect diodes
Inspect varistors (if any)
Lubricate bearings ¹
Replace bearings ²
Complete verification of the alternator
1. Check the lubrication interval and amount of grease in section 6.5.1 of this manual.
2. The exchange of bearings should be performed every 20,000 hours.
NOTE
The verifications and tasks described in the table above must be performed according to item 6 of this manual.
