6.12 DISASSEMBLY, ASSEMBLY AND LIST OF PARTS - GTA315 to GTA400
6.12.1 Disassembly
1. Open the cover of the terminal box (9) and disconnect
the cables from the voltage regulator and of the
exciter;
2. Loosen the screws securing the terminal box (10) to
the frame (19) and remove it;
3. Remove the protection screen (21);
4. Loosen the screws holding the front flange (4) to the
frame and remove it;
5. Remove the clamps and thread to release the cables
from the main stator and exciter;
6. Loosen the screws and remove the back fan cover
(12);
7. Loosen the screws that hold the stator of the exciter
(13) on the ND-end shield and remove it using a
rubber hammer and taking due care to avoid
accidents or damage to the coils of the stator and
exciter rotor;
8. Remove the exciter rotor, according to the procedure
described in Section 6.13;
9. Remove the screws that secure the ND-end shield
(11) on the frame and remove it with a lever and a
rubber hammer;
10. The removal of the whole rotor must be done by the
front of the alternator, using an appropriate device.
NOTE
To disassemble the alternators with
double bearing (constructive form B35T)
first the flange and the D-end shield must
be removed.
Before disassembling the closed
alternators type GTF the heat exchanger
installed at the top of the alternator must
be removed.

6.12.2 Assembly
1. Check if machined parts of the frame, flange, ND-end
shield and fan cover are clean and with corrosion
protection;
2. Insert the main rotor at the front with an appropriate
device;
3. Check if the o'ring (15) is correctly placed in the
bearing seat of the ND-end shield;
4. Fit the ND-end shield (11) in the bearing and fix it;
5. Manually fit the exciter rotor shaft and secure it with
appropriate screws;
6. Connect the cables of the main rotor to the rectifier
bridge of the exciter rotor;
7. Fix the exciter stator (13) on the DN-end shield using
the appropriate screws;
8. Make sure that the connecting cables of the exciter
stator are positioned correctly in order to make the
connection in the terminal box;
9. Attach the back fan cover (12) on the DN-end shield;
10. Attach the front flange (4) to the frame;
11. Place the protection screen (21);
12. Place the terminal box (10) in proper position and
attach it in the frame;
