Note
An check should always be made whether a control system cable to the control unit for the steering column
electronics is already fitted in the vehicle. The control system cable uses chamber PIN 5 in the connector (see Page
2, Fig. 2 -Arrow-). Should the control system cable already be fitted, the following steps can be skipped and the final
work for the activation of the cruise control system be carried out 

Release the plug contact insert -1- on the socket for the control unit for the steering column electronics with a
screwdriver -Arrow- and pull it out of the socket casing -2-.

Place the control system cable -1- in chamber PIN 5 -arrow- of the plug contact insert and ensure that it locks into
position.
Push the plug contact insert into the socket casing and ensure that it locks into position.
Insert the socket on the control unit for the steering column electronics.
Remove the wiper system.

Unscrew the screws -arrow- and take off the cover.

Drill a 10 mm diameter hole in the cover, as shown in the figure.
Remove the existing rubber coating on the rear of the cover from the area near the hole.
Feed the control system cable from the interior through the hole -arrow- in the coverer into the engine
compartment.
Fix the control system cable in the interior with cable ties to the existing vehicle cables so that it cannot kink or
scrape against other parts.

Slide the grommet supplied -1- onto the control system cable.
Insert the grommet -1- into the new hole (Page 3, Fig. 2 -arrow-) in the cover.
Fit the cover (cf. Page 3, Fig. 1).
Fit the control system cable into the engine control unit.

Remove the socket from the engine control unit.
Engine; Repair Group 24; fuel mixture preparation - Electronic fuel injection; engine control unit -J623-
cut the cable tie -1- and push off the plug cover -arrow-.

Use a screwdriver to lever the left and right latches out from the plug.

Use a screwdriver to lever the cover -1- and the seal -2- out of the plug housing.
Note
Depending on the model version, the unoccupied PINs may have a placeholder inserted. These should be plugged
in again during assembly.

Lever out the plug contact insert (black) carefully with a screwdriver pull it out of the casing.
Insert the control system cable supplied in line with the current flow diagram on the plug contact insert and ensure
it locks into position.

Note
The CCS control system cable does not have a special configuration to a particular PIN within the plug contact insert.
The assignments of the PINs varies depending on the engine and engine control unit fitted.
Fit the sockets for the engine control unit in reverse order and renew cable ties.
Fix the control system cable in the engine compartment with cable ties to the existing vehicle cables so that it
cannot kink or scrape against other parts.
