Installation instructions

Original cruise control system (CCS)
Scope of delivery:
1 x steering column switch
1 x control system cable
1)
The steering column lever supplied always has the switch positions for vehicles with a rear wiper, irrespective of the actual equipment fitted
in the vehicle. The switch positions on vehicles without a rear wiper have no function. When the vehicle is handed over, the customer must
be informed about this situation.
2)
The control system cable is always supplied, but it is possibly not needed, dependent on the vehicle equipment.
3)
The control unit for the steering column electronics is not supplied with all original cruise control systems. It is only supplied if it is required to
be replaced.
Required special tools, test and measuring equipment and auxiliary equipment:
Phillips head screwdriver
Flat-headed screwdriver
Vehicle diagnosis, measurement and information system -VAS 505X- with current Volkswagen brand and basic
CD.

Accessories
:
Shear bolts (only where cabling is installed and for vehicles with an anti-theft engine control unit)
Lower steering column trim (only for Passat and Sharan, note the colour code of the interior fittings!)

Procedure
Note
Fitting of the original automatic cruise control system (CCS) should be carried out by a competent workshop.
Incorrect fitting may lead to damage to the vehicle or to the automatic cruise control system (CCS).
The work to be performed described in these installation instructions may change due to model improvement
measures. As such, changes to the wiring colours or even the fitting sites should not be discounted. For this
reason, always consult the relevant latest current flow diagram or the latest vehicle repair manual.
Secure all wires in such a way that they cannot come into contact with any rotating or other moving parts and so
that they cannot chafe on any sharp metal or plastic edges.

1.1 Fitting the components
Disconnect battery.
Vehicle electronics, electrical system; repair group 27; starter motor, power supply, CCS, connecting and
disconnecting the battery
Remove the steering wheel with the air-bag unit.
Running gear, running gear, axles, steering repair group 48; steering, overview of steering column fitting; removing
and fitting the steering wheel
Remove the steering column trim.
Exterior bodywork; interior bodywork tasks; repair group 68; shelves; covers and trim; removing and fitting the
steering column trim
Remove storage shelf on the left under the dashboard.
Exterior bodywork; interior bodywork tasks; repair group 68; shelves; covers and trim; removing and fitting the
steering column trim
Remove existing steering column switch and replace with the component supplied.
Electrical system; Repair Group 94; exterior lights, lamps and switches; steering column switch
only vehicles with a new control unit for the steering column electronics:
Remove existing control unit for the steering column electronics and replace with the component supplied.
Electrical system; Repair Group 94; exterior lights, lamps and switches; steering column switch
