Installing Peripheral Drives
A peripheral drive can be a CD-ROM drive, a tape drive, or a diskette drive. To
install a peripheral drive, you must first remove the peripheral assembly.
1. Power off the system, remove the access panel, and attach an antistatic wrist strap
as described in "Preparing for Installation" on page en-5.
2. Remove the peripheral assembly as follows:
a. Remove the front peripheral bezel assembly by pushing on the depression on
the bezel top and pulling the bezel top away from the system.
b. Loosen the four screws that secure the peripheral assembly to the chassis.
c. Partially remove the peripheral assembly from the chassis.
d. Disconnect the data cables and power cables from any existing drives.
e. Remove the peripheral assembly from the chassis.
3. Place the peripheral assembly on an antistatic mat.
4. If necessary, remove a filler panel from the peripheral drive bay you want to use.
5. Position the CD-ROM drive, tape drive, or diskette drive into the peripheral drive
bay.
6. Install the four screws that secure the drive to the peripheral assembly.
7. Replace the peripheral assembly as follows:
a. Position the peripheral assembly into the chassis front.
b. Connect the rear cable connectors to all drives as required.
c. Tighten the four screws that secure the peripheral assembly to the chassis.
8. If necessary, remove the filler panel from the front peripheral bezel assembly
opening you want to use.
9. Replace the front peripheral bezel assembly.
10. Continue with "Finishing the Installation" on page en-13.
