Connection, installation
Connection as media or area coupler
1. Bus power supply through a separate EIB power
supply: see Fig. 1 (media coupler) or Fig. 2 (area
coupler)
2. Bus power supply through internal power supply: The
system coupler has an internal source of power pro-
viding a throttled output voltage of 24 V ± 5 V DC.
This power supply system can supply up to 5 addi-
tional devices (system couplers or EIB-TP devices)
with power (e.g. to couple several Powernet areas).
For internal power supply of the system coupler the
output voltage has to be connected to the bus con-
necting terminal (see Fig. 3).
The voltage sources of 2 system couplers maximum
may be connected in parallel. In doing so, up to 10
additional devices (system couplers or EIB-TP devices)
can be supplied with power (e.g. when more than 5
Powernet areas are connected with each other), see
Fig. 4.
