5. Ensure the neckseal is
sealed against neck.
Nothing should be
obstructing the neck-
seal to the skin.
The Universal Safe Escape Respirator neckseal may
not provide satisfactory protection if hair, clothing, or
other conditions prevent direct contact with the skin.
Failure to follow this warning may result in serious
personal injury or death.
6. Pull the skirt of the
hood down to cover the
neckseal area.
Note: If the situation permits, a buddy can help to ensure
that nothing is obstructing the neckseal to the skin and
that the skirt of the hood covers the neckseal area.
Note: To help minimize fogging of the respirator during
wear, gently position the lens so that it does not come in
direct contact with the face. If the lens of the respirator
does become fogged, push the lens against the forehead
and gently move the lens across the forehead.
After donning the Universal Safe Escape Respirator,
breathe calmly and immediately proceed to fresh air.
Do not break the seal between your neck and the res-
pirator during use. Failure to follow this warning can
result in serious personal injury or death.

DONNING
DECONTAMINATION
Do not remove respirator until respirator and protec-
tive clothing are decontaminated; otherwise, exposure
to contaminants may result. Follow decontamination
and disposal procedures established by appropriate
authorities. Failure to follow this warning may result in
serious personal injury or death.

REMOVING THE RESPIRATOR

Lift the front of neckseal and move canister up and
over head.
Disposal of the respirator is to be performed as
required by federal, state, and/or local laws.
Note: The Universal Safe Escape Respirator is not
reusable.

STORAGE

Upon receipt, break or remove the seal on the
Hextreme Case, if applicable.
Store the Universal Safe Escape Respirator in dry,
clean conditions out of direct sunlight.
The Universal Safe Escape Respirator must be stored
in its original, unopened bag until needed for escape.
It is recommended the respirator be kept in the
Hextreme Case for additional protection of the pack-
aging. If used, the storage case must not be sealed.
