Turn the fire helmet upside down.
(2)
Remove the ear cover.
(3)
Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the four screws that attach the left and right brackets,
MSA nameplates, and cap nuts to the shell.
(4)
If applicable, do the following:
a) Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the goggle clips and/or faceshield brackets, then
remove the goggles and/or faceshield.
b) Remove the Defender visor by squeezing the quick-connect locking arms together and
pulling up.
c) Use an adjustable wrench and Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the NFPA-compliant
Bourke lens.

Remove the impact cap assembly from the shell.
(6)
If necessary, do the following to remove the suspension from the impact cap:
a) Squeeze to release the four suspension attachment clips, and pull the suspension away from
the impact cap.
b) Squeeze to release the two attachment clips for the additional suspension strap, and remove
the additional suspension strap.
(7)
If necessary, do the following to install the suspension in the impact cap:
a) Install the additional suspension strap in the impact cap, and connect the two attachment
clips.
b) Install the suspension in the impact cap, and connect the four suspension attachment clips.
c) Pull up on the suspension to make sure the attachment clips are fully engaged and the
locking tabs are secure.

Install the impact cap assembly in the shell.
(9)
Do the following on the left and right sides of the fire helmet:
a) Install the MSA nameplate with the MSA logo facing outward, and hold it in position.
b) Install the bracket, and hold it in position.
c) Install the cap nut in the bracket. If the cap nut is seated properly, the bracket acts as a
socket.
d) Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to install the screws through the nameplate, shell, and
bracket into the cap nuts. Do not overtighten or strip the screws.

If applicable, do the following:
a) Install the goggles and/or faceshield, then use a Phillips-head screwdriver to install the
goggle clips and/or faceshield brackets.
b) Install the Defender visor by sliding each quick-connect locking arm into the slot from which
it was removed. The quick-connect mechanisms will click into place when they are fully
engaged
c) Install the NFPA-compliant Bourke lens with an adjustable wrench and Phillips-head screw-
driver.

Install the ear cover.
