Faceshield Adjustment

To maintain NFPA compliance, use ONLY a Defender visor or an MSA polyarylate faceshield or
goggles when using an MSA Cairns fire helmet frontpiece. Removing compliant eye protection voids
the NFPA certification.
MSA recommends wearing approved eye protection, such as safety glasses that comply with ANSI/
ISEA Z87.1-2015, and CSA Z94.3, in conjunction with the faceshield.
Failure to obey this warning can result in serious injury or death.
The faceshield material has been selected for its resistance to impact and penetration, as well as for
premium optical clarity.

Defender Visor Adjustment

A Defender visor that is not stowed securely may interfere with the SCBA facepiece seal.
Do not wear prescription eye glasses under the Defender visor. Safety glasses may be worn under
the Defender visor as long as there is no interference. If interference is anticipated, purchase a fire
helmet with an MSA faceshield instead.
Failure to obey these warnings can result in serious injury or death.
