The headband, liner, and ear cover cannot be removed. Do the cleaning procedure with the compo-
nents in position in the fire helmet.

Chinstraps

Remove the chinstrap.
(Select the following link for instructions on how to remove the chinstrap from the fire helmet:

If available, put the components in the mesh bag from the applicable MSA Soft Good Replace-
ment Kit.
Machine-wash the components with a mild liquid detergent at a temperature no higher than
110°F (43°C).
Allow the components to air-dry completely. Do not use a heat source such as forced air to dry
components more quickly. Do not tumble dry.

Ear Cover (Earlap), Ratchet Cover, and Liner (Soft Goods)

Remove the headband, ratchet cover, liner, and ear cover.
If available, put the components in the mesh bag from the applicable MSA Soft Good Replace-
ment Kit.
Machine-wash the components with a mild liquid detergent at a temperature no higher than
110°F (43°C).
Allow the components to air-dry completely. Do not use a heat source such as forced air to dry
components more quickly. Do not tumble dry.
Don protective gloves.
Use a soft cloth or sponge dampened with a solution of warm water and mild detergent to wipe
the headband, liner, and ear cover.
Use a clean cloth dampened only with water to wipe soap residue from the components.
Dry the components with a dry, soft, clean towel.
Remove the liner/ ear cover, ratchet pad and crown pad.

If available, put the components in the mesh bag from the applicable MSA Soft Goods Replace-
ment Kit.
Machine wash the components with a mild liquid detergent at a temperature no higher than
