a) Install the suspension in the impact cap.
b) Connect the suspension attachment points to the retaining tabs on the impact cap.
c) Pull on the suspension to make sure the suspension attachment points are fully engaged
and secure.
Install hook-and-loop fasteners on the inside of the shell and outside of the impact cap.
Install the impact cap assembly in the shell.
Do the following on the left and right sides of the fire helmet:
a) Install the breakaway tab, and hold it in position.
b) Install the washer (if applicable) and then the cap nut, and hold them in position.
c) Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to install the screws through the breakaway tab, shell, and
washer (if applicable) into the cap nuts. Do not overtighten or strip the screws.
If applicable, do the following:
a) Install the goggles and/or faceshield, then use a Phillips-head screwdriver to install the
goggle clips and/or faceshield brackets.
b) Install the Defender visor by sliding each quick-connect locking arm into the slot from which
it was removed. The quick-connect mechanisms will click into place when they are fully
engaged
Install the headband and ear cover.

Turn the fire helmet upside down.
Remove the ear cover and headband.
Remove the four suspension retainer lugs. A flat-blade screwdriver can be used to remove the
lugs, but make sure to prevent damage to the suspension slots when removing the lugs.
Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the four screws that attach the chinstrap and the right
and left breakaway tabs.
