1 Introduction
Our products are exclusively intended for professional use by appropriately trained and qualified
personnel and may only be acquired by them.
Nowadays the high-frequency surgery is the most commonly used method among the surgical
techniques. In combination with argon gas, this technology can be used even more effectively.
The HBS Argon is an argon aggregate, which is designed with the high-frequency device to cut and
coagulate biological tissue with high-frequency current under argon protection.
When the applicator is activated, the argon gas flows through the electrode. The high-frequency
current flows through the plasma beam to the tissue.
A plasma consists of free electrons, positive ions and neutral atoms (or molecules). The conductivity
of the plasma is determined by the amount of electrons and ions and their ability for moving free in the
surrounding gas of ions and neutral atoms.
A plasma is generated out of the strong current field in immediate proximity of the electrode during the
gas ionization.
The application of argon gas during cutting ensures cooling of the surrounding tissue and prevents
access of oxygen. This leads to the prevention of burns, smell and tissue burning, which are subject
to interference, by ensuring safe and reliable hemostasis.
The argon – plasma – coagulation is applied in the open laparoscopic thorax surgery, especially for
nursing surface bleeding for 10 years. The thermic effect of the ionized plasma is used.
The advantages of argon – plasma – coagulation to the previous coagulation methods are the
following:
•
noncontact coagulation
•
less blood loss, especially in the case of parenchyma
•
possibility to avoid already coagulated areas
•
limited penetration – up to 3 mm.
•
effect as protective gas against carbonation
The most important performances of the HBS Argon are:
•
LCD-Touchscreen-Display with intuitive, high-resolution user menu.
•
Independent regulation of the output of the argon gas for both operating modes – cut und
coagulating with their operating modes.
•
Automatic switching of the gas supply from empty to full cylinder.
•
controlled Argon supply with the pressure and output, set by the standards equal to the realistic
clinical conditions.
•
Acoustic alarm during the Activation of diverse operating modes as well as an alarm in case of
errors.
•
Storage of 8 programs, 4 of them with preset parameters (argon gas flow for cutting and
coagulating) and 4 user programs.
