Attenuation
of the probe
Two-channel digital Oscilloscopes
A guard around the probe body protects your fingers from electric shocks.
Connect the probe to the oscilloscope, then connect the crocodile clip of the
earthing cable of the probe to the earth reference potential of the circuit to be
tested before making a measurement.
Note:
● In order to avoid an electric shock while using the probe, keep
your fingers behind the guard on the probe body.
● In order to avoid an electric shock while using the probe, do
not touch the metallic parts of the probe head when the probe is
connected on a voltage source. Connect the probe to the
oscilloscope, then connect the ground cable to the earth of the
circuit to be tested before making a measurement.
The probes can have different attenuation factors that modify the vertical
scale of the oscilloscope. Press the corresponding channel key (CH 1 or
CH2) and select the coefficient that corresponds to the attenuation factor of
your probe.
Note: The default probe coefficient is 1X.
Make sure that the attenuation switch of the probe is set to the same
attenuation factor as the oscilloscope. The probes supplied with the
oscilloscope have two attenuation coefficients: 1X and 10X.
Note:
When the attenuation switch is set to 1X, the probe limits the
bandwidth of the oscilloscope to approximately 6MHz
(depending on the characteristics of the probe). To use the full
bandwidth of the oscilloscope, be sure to set the switch of the
probe to 10X.
