The general principle of this watch draws a parallel with the human
body. The watch is fitted with a heart (the barrel) capable of beating
at two different speeds, represented by two balance wheels visible
on the back of the watch. These balance wheels both operate at
a different speed (frequency) depending on whether the watch is
being worn or not:
- Active mode = frequency of 5 Hz: the watch is being worn on the
wrist and has a power reserve of 4 days.
- Standby mode = frequency of 1.2 Hz: the watch is not being worn
and has a power reserve of 65 days provided that the time-setting
and winding crown (I) has been completely wound.
NOTE: When the watch is in Standby mode, it must be placed flat
or in the case provided to benefit from the full duration of its power
reserve.

Displays
In addition to the basic functions (hours and minutes), the watch has
a number of displays:
Active (5 Hz) / Standby (1.2 Hz) frequency mode (7):
The hand (7) indicates whether the frequency mode is Active (5 Hz)
or Standby (1.2 Hz).
When the watch is being worn on the wrist, the frequency mode
should be the Active mode, during which the watch has a guaranteed
power reserve of 4 days.
When the watch is not being worn on the wrist, we recommend
putting it in Standby mode, during which the watch has a guaranteed
power reserve of 65 days.
IMPORTANT: When the watch is being worn on the wrist, it must be
in Active mode otherwise it may not function correctly.
Instant perpetual calendar (date (3) and month (4) hands and
leap-year disc (5)):
The instant perpetual calendar permanently displays the date
(3), month (4) and the year's leap-year cycle (5). This calendar is
designed to operate without adjustment until 28 February 2100,
provided that the watch does not stop. For information, leap years
are years that are divisible by 4, save for "secular" years which are
not divisible by 400.
The date (3), month (4) and leap-year cycle (5) take several hours
to change in a standard perpetual calendar. Here, the perpetual
calendar system is instant; this means that the date (3), month (4)
or year (5) changes instantly at midnight.
