Operating area and operating
conditions
– For SIL-applications, observe the "Safety Manual Polytron
6100".
– Observe the specifications and restrictions in the
Instructions for Use and/ or data sheets for the sensors.
– Not tested in oxygen enriched atmospheres (> 21 % O
– Using the product in hazardous areas: Instruments or
components for use in explosion-hazard areas which have
been tested and approved according to national,
European, or international explosion protection

Dräger Polytron 6100 EC WL, Dräger Polytron Repeater ISA
– For use in hazardous areas, comply with the information
on the approval marking (see document "Notes on
Approval", order no. 93 00 060).
1.3

Commissioning

– Before commissioning the device, Dräger recommends a
span calibration with the target gas at the place of use.
If the target gas is not available, a substitute gas may be
used.
1.4

Mechanical installation

– Observe local, state, and national regulations for the
installation of gas detection systems.
– Consider the following for the installation location:
– Physical properties of the gases or vapors to be
measured and the details of the particular application
(e.g., proximity to possible leakage, air
movements/flows, expected spread of the gas or vapor
cloud, etc.)
– Future use of accessories and maintenance
equipment
– Vertical orientation of the device (antenna points
upwards)
– Free gas or vapor inflow to the sensor
– A sufficient radio signal for reliable measured value
transmission
If this is not possible with the standard antenna, use a
remote antenna.
– No direct sunlight that causes the temperature to rise
above the specified limit values.
Dräger recommends the weather protection kit
(accessory).
– Protect the antenna connector from contamination and
corrosion. If no antenna is installed, attach cover cap
(delivery state) and fasten hand-tight.
1.5

Electrical installation

– Use of the battery pack:
– Do not throw a used battery pack into fire.
– Do not open the battery pack forcibly.
– Dispose of the battery pack in accordance with
national regulations.
– For wired power supply in hazardous areas, observe the
specified operational parameters and use a suitable safety
barrier (see "Technical data", page 33). Otherwise,
intrinsic safety is not guaranteed.
– If the device is operated without a safety barrier, it is no
longer approved for use in hazardous areas.
