7. If necessary, attach the tag supplied with the sensor to the
gas detector. The tag can be used to identify which type of
gas is being measured even in the event of a power
failure.

Electrical installation

6.1

Connecting the wired power supply

For information on cable specifications or operational
parameters, see "Technical data", page 33.
Prerequisites:
– Explosion-hazard areas: The power supply is provided via
a safety barrier, which ensures intrinsic safety of the gas
detector.
Observe maximum capacity and inductance of the cable
for the connection to the safety barrier.
Supplies:
– Non-hazardous areas: cable gland M25 x 1.5
– Explosion-hazard areas: Ex e cable gland M25 x 1.5
Illustration on fold-out page:
– Non-hazardous areas: See A and D
– Explosion-hazard areas: See A and E (possible
application with safety barrier)
Connect the wired power supply:
1. Connect the grounding cable to the fastening screw for
potential equalization (Fig. A 16).
2. Prepare the installation:
a. Loosen the set screw (Fig. A 13).
b. Turn the housing cover (Fig. A 1) and remove it.
c. Pull out the battery box (Fig. A 2).
d. Remove both fastening screws for the trim plate
(Fig. A 10).
e. Remove the trim plate.
f. Loosen the screw plug (Fig. A 5).
g. Mount the cable gland. Follow the instructions in the
documentation of the cable gland manufacturer.
3. Connect the connecting cable:
a. Mount the 2-wire connecting cable in the cable gland,
cut to length and strip (approx. 80 mm). Shorten the
shielding so that no short circuits occur.
b. Connect both connecting cables to the connection
terminals. Pay attention to the polarity.
4. Complete the installation:
a. Insert the trim plate.
b. Fasten the trim plate with both fastening screws.
c. Put the rubber cap on the contacts for the battery box.
d. Fit the housing cover and tighten it.
e. Tighten the set screw.
5. Configure the gas detector with PolySoft for operation with
wired power supply.

Battery operation

The transport, insertion and replacement of the battery box in
potentially explosive gas atmospheres is permitted.
The battery box may be transported in areas with a dust
explosion hazard. Inserting or changing the battery box in a
potentially explosive dust atmosphere is only permitted with
declassification.

6.2.1 Removing the battery box

WARNING
Risk of explosion!
If the gas detector is opened in a potentially explosive dust
atmosphere, an explosion may occur.
► Do not open the gas detector in dust explosion-hazard
areas. Alternatively, declassify the dust explosion-hazard
area beforehand.
Remove the battery box:
1. Open the gas detector:
a. Loosen the set screw (Fig. A 13).
b. Turn the housing cover (Fig. A 1) and remove it.
2. Pull out the battery box (Fig. A 2).

6.2.2 Installing the battery pack

WARNING
Risk of explosion!
Opening the battery box in a hazardous area can cause an
explosion.
► Do not open the battery box in an explosion-hazard area.
Alternatively, declassify the explosion-hazard area
beforehand.
NOTICE
Incorrect calculation of the remaining charge!
► When inserting or changing the battery pack, only use
new battery packs.
Exception: If the currently used battery pack is removed,
e.g., during maintenance, it may be used again.
Prerequisite:
– Battery box has been removed.
– Battery box is located outside the explosion-proof area
Install battery pack:
1. Loosen the screw (Fig. C 1).
2. Remove the lid (Fig. C 2) of the battery box.
3. When changing the battery pack, disconnect the cable
plugs (Fig. C 6 and C 7) and remove the empty battery
pack from the battery box.
WARNING
► Use only the Dräger LBT 05** battery pack.
4. Connect the cable plug of the battery pack (Fig. C 7).
The cable plug of the battery pack must engage when it is
connected.
5. Insert the battery pack in the battery box.
