Preface

This guide is for the networking or computer technician responsible for installing
networking equipment such as routers, hubs, servers, and switches. We assume
that you are familiar with the concepts and terminology of Ethernet and local area
networking.
This guide documents the hardware features of the Cisco Redundant Power
System 2300 (PWR-RPS2300). It describes the physical and performance
characteristics of the RPS 2300, explains how to install the RPS 2300, and
provides troubleshooting information.
The RPS 2300 provides redundant power for a number of Cisco products. This
guide describes how the RPS 2300 works with the Catalyst 3750-E and 3560-E
switches.
To determine if your product can use the RPS 2300, see your product
documentation, or see the online Cisco RPS 2300 Switch Compatibility Matrix
(posted with the RPS 2300 documentation on Cisco.com) for a complete list of
supported products.
This guide does not describe system messages that you might receive or how to
configure the RPS 2300. You configure the RPS 2300 through the command-line
interface (CLI) and manage it through the Cisco IOS or management software on
the Catalyst 3750-E and 3560-E switches.
