Start time in Y-mode. Important setting
Time relay K4T decides how long the motor runs in Y-mode before switching over to
D-mode. The time should be so long that the motor reaches full speed, no more. Too short
time significantly reduces contactor live time and/or causes the mains fuses to blow. Too
long time means a long wait for full vacuum, particularly for installation with automatic
start/stop. Make a few starts to find a suitable time. Start with a long time, about 15 s, and
measure the time for the motor to reach full speed. Certain RBU-units reach full speed
within 5s and the time can be reduced accordingly. VAC-units need much longer time.
Relay K4T permits settings between 1.5 and 30 s. The dial scale is 0–1.0. Thus, set the
dial to 0.5 for 15 s starting time. Then trim the setting for a correct start-up progres.

Other settings

Putting the vacuum installation into service is not ready until settings have been made
for options installed in vacuum unit or dust collector. Default settings work in most
cases and may be OK for the first days of operation but may not be optimal for all
kinds of installations. Certain warnings, a full dust bin for example, causes a summary
alarm and vacuum unit stopping a few minutes after the warning. Longer time may be
necessary in a process industry where only planned stops can be accepted. See Chapters
'12 PLC settings' and '13 Warnings and alarms'.

Normal operation

The display informs about normal running conditions.
Stopping the vacuum unit
The vacuum unit is stopped by pressing Stop/Reset on the display. Remote stop-buttons,
if installed, have the same function. The week timer, if programmed and set Active,
also has the same function. Stopping the vacuum unit one of these ways is strongly
recommended despit the installation is fitted with pilot signal automatic start/stop.
Otherwise, the installation will not stop if a vacuum outlet has been unintentionally left
open.

Normal display during operation
All installations with automatic start/stop also have the DIR-
function. However, DIR has a practical function only for RBU-
units. It causes the RBU-unit to idle (within about 30 seconds) after
the unit is not utilised. Energy saving is substantial.
The installation is made with automatic start/stop and has stopped
because no vacuum outlet is open. Starts automatically when an
outlet is opened.
Displayed for signal 1 and signal 2, which follows a few seconds
after signal 1. This is to match type RF filter cleaning. (Signal 2 is
always generated but has normally no function for standard filter
cleaning. See Chapter '12 PLC settings' point 4
Displayed during emptying using AEB-technique or TVFD-
technique. Priority higher than "Filter cleaning" and therefore
displayed if emptying takes place parallel with filter cleaning.
