M5073A AND M5074A TRAINING PADS CARTRIDGES
DESCRIPTION AND USE
The HeartStart Adult and Infant/Child Training Pads cartridges are designed for
use with these Philips automated external defibrillators: the HeartStart OnSite
Defibrillator M5066A, the HeartStart Defibrillator M5067A, and the HeartStart
Home Defibrillator M5068A ("HS1 defibrillators"). The training pads cartridges
are also for use with the Philips HeartStart Trainer M5085A and the Laerdal
HeartStart Trainer M5086A. These instructions are specific to use of the
training pads cartridges with an HS1 defibrillator. Use of the training
pads cartridge with a HeartStart Trainer is described in the Instructions for Use
provided with the Trainer.
The training pads cartridges are reusable optional accessories for demonstration
and occasional training applications. Replacement pads for the cartridges are
also available. These pads cannot be used to deliver defibrillation
treatment.
Each training pads cartridge has a removable clear protective lid with a handle, a
resealable film cover, and a pair of reusable adhesive pads. It is packaged with:
•
Illustrated directions for installing the cartridge, using the pads
placement guide, and repackaging the cartridge after using it.
•
A fold-out pads placement guide for adult or child, depending on the
cartridge model. Metal areas on the placement guide allow the
defibrillator to sense when the pads are properly applied.
•
This Instructions for Use manual.
The illustrated directions are also printed on the inside front and back covers of
this manual.
The Adult and Infant/Child Training Pads cartridges are yellow, to help prevent
confusing them with the white SMART Pads cartridges used for patient
treatment. In addition, the training pads cartridges have red labels that identify
them as training cartridges.
Using a training pads cartridge installed in a HeartStart HS1 defibrillator, the
user can choose any of eight emergency scenarios. The scenarios are described
in the table on page 3. The scenarios are designed to let the user become
familiar with how to operate the HS1 defibrillator.
