service instructions provided are for use after completion of the warranty period.
DISASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
Motor Disassembly:
To prevent damage to the motor assembly the following
sequence must be followed:
1. Remove the (35) Pad with the (34) Pad Wrench.
2. Unscrew the (12) Lock Ring with the (MPA0025) T-6
Motor Lock Ring Wrench/Spindle Puller Tool. The
motor assembly and Lock Ring can now be lifted out
of the (32) Motor Housing.
3. Remove the (1) Retaining Ring and the (7) O-Ring
from the (8) Cylinder.
4. Remove the (3) Rear Endplate. This requires sup-
porting the Rear Endplate using a (MPA0416) Bear-
ing Separator and lightly pressing the shaft through
the (2) Bearing and the Rear Endplate. Remove the
(8) Cylinder and the five (5) Vanes and (4) Rotor from
the shaft of the (13) Shaft Balancer. Remove the two
(6) Keys, and then press off the (9) Front Endplate
(with Bearing). Remove the (11) O-Ring and the (12)
Lock Ring. It may be necessary to remove the (10)
Bearing with a Bearing Separator if it came out of the
Front Endplate and stuck to the shaft of the Shaft Bal-
ancer.
5. Remove and discard the (62) Dust Shield from the
(13) Shaft Balancer.
6. Remove the Bearing(s) from the Endplates by using
the (MPA0036) T-8 Bearing Removal Tool to press
out the Bearings.
Shaft Balancer and Spindle Disassembly:
1. With a thin screwdriver pick out the slotted end of the
(22) Retaining Ring and prise it out.
2. Screw the threaded end of the (MPA0025) T-6 Mo-
tor Lock Ring Wrench/Spindle Puller Tool into the
(21) Spindle until hand tight. Apply gentle heat from
a propane torch or hot air gun to the large end of the
(13) Shaft Balancer until it is about 100 °C (212 °F)
to soften the adhesive. Do not over heat. Remove the
spindle assembly by using the slider to pull the spin-
dle assembly outward. Allow the parts to cool until
they are safe to handle. Do not knock out the spindle
assembly using the T-6 Motor Lock Ring Wrench/
Spindle Puller Tool because this could damage the
(18) Bearing.
3. The AirSHIELD™ components are held in place by a
light press fit against the (16) Retainer. These compo-
nents can be damaged during removal and may need
to be replaced if removed. To remove the Retainer,
use an O-Ring pick or a #8 sheet metal screw to grip
and pull out the Retainer. Remove the (15) Valve and
(14) Filter from the bore in the (13) Shaft Balancer. If
the Retainer and Valve were not damaged, they can
be reused. However, the Filter should be replaced on
re-assembly.
4. Remove the (17) Retaining Ring from the (21) Spin-

5. Remove the (18) Bearing from (21) Spindle. Remove
the (19) Spacer, (63) Dust Shield and (20) Belleville
Washer from the (21) Spindle.
Housing Disassembly:
1. Unscrew the threaded (23) Plug(s) and the (58) Han-
dle (if used) from the (32) Motor Housing. Remove
the (31) Hanger (if used). Remove the (30) Spacer
Rings from the Hanger.
2. Remove the (61) Retaining Ring. The (60) Speed
Control (with (59) O-Ring) will now pull straight out
from the (32) Motor Housing. Use an O-Ring pick to
remove the O-Ring from the Speed Control.
3. Use a T-20 Torx® driver to unscrew all (54 and 57)
Screws.
4. Remove the (53) End Cap.
5. Unscrew the (55) Inlet Bushing from the (53) End
Cap. Remove the (51) Mufflers, (49) Captive Ring,
(50) O-Ring, and (52) O-Ring from the End Cap.
6. Remove the (24 and 56) Housings.
7. Remove the (26) Mufflers and (27 and 28) Seals from
the (24) Housing.
8. Remove the (46) Exhaust Tubing, (47) Tubing Clamp,
and (48) Inlet Tubing from the motor housing assem-
bly. Separate the Exhaust Tubing, Tubing Clamp, and
Inlet Tubing from each other.
9. Unscrew the (45) Screws from the (32) Motor Hous-
ing.
10. Remove the (44) NV/CV Exhaust Nozzle and the (43)
Gasket from the (32) Motor Housing.
11. Press out the (29) Spring Pin from the (32) Motor
Housing and remove the (25) Throttle Lever.
12. Remove the (42) Seal Assembly. This component can
become damaged during removal and will need to be
replaced if damaged.
13. Remove the (41) Spring, (40) Valve, (39) Valve Seat,
and the (37) Valve Stem from the (32) Motor Housing.
Use an O-Ring pick to remove the O-Ring from the
Valve Stem.
14. Remove the (38) Sleeve from the (32) Motor Hous-
ing.
15. Remove the (33) Shroud from the (32) Motor Hous-
ing.
