NOTICE: To receive any expressed or implied warranty, tool must be repaired by an authorized Mirka Service Center. The following
general service instructions provided are for use after completion of the warranty period.
DISASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
Motor Disassembly:
1. Lightly secure the motor housing in a vise by using the
Service Collar to provide protection for the housing.
2. Use a 36mm or an adjustable wrench to remove the (34)
Lock Nut by turning it clockwise.Pull the motor assembly out
of the (01) Throttle Handle.
3. Hold the portion of the (20) Cylinder that is closest to the (22)
Rear End Plate by using (MPA0416) Bearing Separator. Then
place the (MPA0416) Bearing Separator on a reserved fixture
so that the (18) Bevel Pinion end of the rotor is toward the
floor. Use a 3/16" dia. flat end drive punch as a press tool and
position it on the (12) rotor shaft. Use a light press force to
push the (12) Rotor out of the (23) Ball Bearing. Then remove
the (20) Cylinder and (21) Vanes.
4. Secure the body of the (12) Rotor in a vise so that the (18)
Bevel Pinion is facing upward. Use a 12mm wrench to
remove the (18) Bevel Pinion from the (12) Rotor by turning it
counterclockwise.
5. Pull the (14) Front End Plate with (17)bearing off the (12)
Rotor.Remove the (08) O-Ring from the (14) Front End Plate.
Depart the (13) Spacer off the (12) Rotor.
6. Remove the (17/23) Bearing(s) from the (14/22) Front/Rear
End Plates by using the Bearing Removal fixture and the
Reserved Bearing Pressed tool to disassemble the Bearings.
Orbital Head Disassembly:
1. Unscrew the (48 or 51 ) Pad from (46 or 49 ) Plate.
2. Use (53) 2.0 mm Hex Wrench to remove the (47 or 50)
Screws.
3. Remove the (42) Boot Clamp by pushing it upward to the (24)
Arbor casing. Pull the (41) Boot from the (24) Arbor Casing.
Then, remove the (42) Boot Clamp from (24) Arbor casing.
4. Hold the (35) Counter Weight stationary with a 2.0mm (53)
L Shape Hex Wrench by placing the wrench into (36) Set
Screw. Then, unscrew the (40) Screw from the Arbor assem-
bly using a (52) 2.5 mm L Shape Hex Wrench.
5. Pull the (37) Balance Shaft. Use a thin screwdriver pick out
the slotted end of (39) Snap Ring and remove it.
6. Use the Bearing Removal fixtures to remove the (38) Ball
Bearings off the (37) Balance Shaft.
7. Remove the (36) Set Screw by using a (53) 2.0 mm L Shape
Hex Wrench. Then remove the (35) Counter Weight.
Angle Housing Disassembly:
1. Lightly secure the (24) Arbor Casing in a vise by using the
Service Collar to provide protection for the Arbor Casing.
Hold the (24) Arbor Casing so that the (33) Arbor Bearing
Cap is facing up.
2. Use the Lock Ring Tool to remove the (33) Arbor Bearing
Cap, by turning it clockwise.
3. Remove (32) Dust Seal from (33) Arbor Bearing Cap.
4. Hold the shaft of (26) Arbor to pull out the Arbor set. The (31)
Wave Washer and (55) Shim will out of the (24) Arbor Casing
during Arbor set removing.
5. Use (MPA0416) Bearing Separator and Arbor press fixture
with a light press force to press the (26) Arbor. The (30)
Ball Bearing, (28) Bevel Gear and (27) Ball Bearing can be
removed by repeating upon step.
Valve Disassembly:
1. Press out the (45) Spring Pin from the (01) Throttle Handle
and remove the (44) Throttle Lever.
2. Unscrew the (11) Air Inlet Bushing from the (01) Throttle
Mirka 8,500 rpm

SERVICE INSTRUCTIONS
Handle. Remove the (10) Muffler Plate, (08) O-Ring, and the
(09) Muffler Felt .
3. Remove the (43) Grip.
4. Use a thin screwdriver pick out the slotted end of (39) Snap
Ring and remove it. Push the (03) Valve Stem, then (06)
Air Regulator , (07) O-Ring, (05) Valve Spring, (03) Valve
Stem and (04) O-Ring will be departed from the (01) Throttle
Handle.
5. Press out the (02) Throttle Valve from the (01) Throttle
Handle.
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
Note: All assembly must be done with dry clean parts and all
bearings are to be pressed in place by the correct tools and
procedures as outlined by the bearing manufacturers.
Valve Assembly:
1. Press the (02) Throttle Valve into the (01) Throttle Handle
with the top from the (44) Throttle Lever side.
2. Lightly grease the (07) O-Ring and place it into the the (02)
Throttle Valve. Assemble the (04) O-Ring and and (05)
Valve Spring to the (03) Valve stem. Insert the Valve Stem
assembly and (06) Air Regulator with (07) O-Ring assembled
into (01) Throttle Handle. Make sure the hole in the (06)
Air Regulator align with the air inlet hole in the (01) Throttle
Handle. Place the (39) Snap Ring into the groove of (01)
Throttle Handle to secure the (06) Air Regulator.
3. To install a new grip, hold the Grip by the tabs making them
face outward, align the Grip and slide it under the (15)
Throttle Lever then press the Grip down until it cover the
surface area of the sander. Make sure the two "tabs" inside
the grip are aligned with the tabs on (01) Throttle Handle.
4. Place two clean (09) Muffler Felts and (10) Muffler Plate with
(08) O-Ring into the exhaust port of the (01) Throttle Handle.
Coat the threads on the (11) Air Inlet Bushing with 1 - 2 drops
of Loctite™ 222 or equivalent non-permanent pipe thread
sealant. Screw the (11) Air Inlet Bushing into the inlet port on
the (01) Throttle Handle until hand tight.
5. Install (44) Throttle Lever into (01) Throttle Handle with (45)
Spring Pin.
Angle Housing Assembly:
1. Press the (25) Oiler into the (24) Arbor Casing by using fixed
tooling.
2. Position the Bearing Press Tool against the inner race of the
(27) Ball Bearing and press the bearing onto the (26) Arbor.
3. Align the hex shaped I.D. area of (28) Bevel Gear with the
hex shaped O.D. area of (26) Spindle to assemble the (28)
Bevel Gear onto (26) Spindle.
4. Press the (30) Ball Bearing down using the Bearing Press
Tool.
5. Place the Pressing Tool Base onto a flat, clean surface of a
small hand press or equivalent with the Arbor Casing pocket
facing upward. Place the (24) Arbor Casing into the Arbor
Casing pocket.
6. Place the (31) Wave Washer into the (24) Arbor Casing.
7. Place the (55) Shim into the (24) Arbor Casing. (Optional)
8. Install the Arbor Assembly into the (24) Arbor Casing. Apply a
slight amount of pressure down on the spindle .
9. Place (32) Dust Seal into the (33) Arbor Bearing Cap, and
apply a small amount of Loctite™ #567 (or equivalent) to the
threads of the (33) Arbor Bearing Cap. Screw the (33) Arbor
Bearing Cap into the (24) Arbor Casing using the 30mm
Wrench.
