HISTORY
Since 1860, Guido Panerai & Figlio in Florence had been producing precision
instruments with a high level of technical content, becoming a supplier to the
Royal Italian Navy. These instruments have indissolubly associated the name
Panerai with marine exploration, time measurement and the development of a
particular standard of quality and safety, a fundamental requirement for
supplying the armed forces.
Officine Panerai began producing watches in March 1938 with the Radiomir, a
model which played a part in the exploits of the commandos of the Italian
Navy who wore it on their wrists.
The Panerai Luminor has been recognised as a historically important watch by
virtue of the robustness and originality of its design; the small number of
examples produced, together with the first Radiomir watches, are some of the
rarities most sought-after by collectors in the field.
Since 1993, Officine Panerai has offered updated Luminor and Radiomir
models on the international market, thus becoming one of the undisputed
leaders in the haute horlogerie sports sector.
Making excellent use of the resources of the Panerai Manufacture, highly
reliable, technologically avant-garde watches are being created; these are
watches meeting the criteria of craftsmanship inherited from the traditions of
the past, tested to resist extremely strong adverse influences.
Panerai watches are distributed through a highly selective international
network of watch specialists as well as through the Panerai boutiques. The
addresses are available on our website www.panerai.com.

THE PANERAI RADIOMIR 1940
CHRONO MONOPULSANTE 8 DAYS GMT
ORO BIANCO WATCH
Officine Panerai has created this model by combining the case design of the
Radiomir 1940 with the technology of the P.2004 in-house movement,
presented in the P.2004/10 version with skeletonised bridges and barrels.
The sophisticated finish and other technical details of the movement can also
be seen through the back of the watch, being exposed to view by the
skeletonising of the bridges and the two barrels. The P.2004/10 calibre also
has the second time zone function, with the 24h indicator on the counter at 9
o'clock, and the device that automatically resets the seconds hand to zero
when the time is adjusted.
The 45 mm case, in white gold, has a cylindrical winding crown with the
Officine Panerai logo in relief and a single push-piece at 8 o'clock which
controls all the chronograph functions.

HE CASE
The Panerai Radiomir 1940 Chrono Monopulsante 8 Days GMT Oro Bianco
has a 45 mm case of 18 ct. polished white gold.
Gold is a very dense metal, highly ductile and malleable. The special alloys
used by Officine Panerai are notable for their great resistance and natural
colour. The white gold contains 15% palladium (PD) to give the desired white
colour. To preserve the tonal characteristics typical of this kind of gold, it is not
rhodium plated.
The case is made using manufacturing techniques involving many complex
operations which ensure a remarkable aesthetic finish and at the same time
great resistance in terms of water- and shock-resistance. The screw-down
crown has a cylindrical shape and is personalised Panerai.
The crystal is of synthetic sapphire, obtained from corundum, a very hard
