is useful (< 5 kg).
The rope must not shift laterally, otherwise take appropriate precautions to prevent dangerous pendulum effects.
A minimum clearance distance under the user's feet must be considered as specified in fig.6a-6b-6c. Below this
clearance distance, the user must take particular care because he may not be completely protected in the event of a fall.
At each use check that the length of the rope used is sufficient and that the free end is knotted or slotted in order to prevent
the device from accidentally coming out of the safety line.
The maximum weight of the user, including the equipment, is 120 kg for vertical use (EN 353-2) and 100 kg for
horizontal/inclined use (CNB/P/11.075) (see chart A).
During movement the device slides freely on the rope, following the operator's movements and and arrests a potential fall
of the user (fig.7).
For the use of the Rope Surfer, accessory guide part to improve sliding, see fig.8.
In case of an extended stay at the same work point, the device can be taken to a position higher than the operator (fig.9).
If the safety line is used to suspend the operator, it becomes, for all intents and purposes, a work line and therefore an
additional safety line must be used for optimum safety of the worker.
In the event of dynamic loads on the device, this could cause damage to the rope sheath and therefore it must be
thoroughly inspected. In the event of a major fall, the device and the rope must be replaced.
Use adequate rescue equipment and provide adequate training for the work crew so that they can act quickly in the event
of a fall, particularly in case of horizontal/inclined use.
High or low temperatures, humidity, rain, ice, oil or dust can negatively impact the performance of the device and the
ropes combined with it.
Main materials of the device: aluminium allow, stainless steel.
Main material of the anchor line: polyamide.
Horizontal/inclined use
It's possible to use the device on horizontal and sloping structures where the edges have radius >=0.5 mm; always take
account that use over sharp edges has additional risks and should therefore be limited as much as possible.
For horizontal use, you must take the following additional precautions:
Ÿ in order to limit any pendulum effects, the workspace must be at less than 1.5m from the line passing through the
device anchor point and perpendicular to the edge (fig.10);
Ÿ if the edge is sharp or has a radius less than 0.5mm you must avoid any and all possibility of a fall over and provide a
cover for such edge; contact the manufacturer for any information needed;
Ÿ the device anchor point must always be above or at the same level as the workspace; avoid slack of rope (fig.11);
Ÿ the angle between the vertical face of the structure and the working surface must be at least 90° (fig.12);
Ÿ take account of the trajectory during a possible fall, in order to avoid dangerous impact on any type of obstacle.
