Ÿ if the device is connected to a flexible horizontal lifeline (EN 795:2012 type C), the flexion of the lifeline in the event of
fall must be taken into account when calculating the required clearance distance. Read the instructions for use of the
lifeline;
Ÿ take proper actions in order to avoid breakage of walking floor.
CHECKING AND MAINTENANCE
Before and after each use, check the correct operation of all moving parts [1d][1e]. Check for the presence of dirt or
foreign objects that can affect or prevent operation (e.g. grease, grit, sand, pebbles, etc.).
After cleaning, lubricate the pins of the moving parts with silicone-based lubricant.
Note: cleaning and lubrication are recommended after each use in a marine environment.
REVISION
In addition to the normal inspection required before, during and after each use, this product must be inspected by a skilled
person every 12 months, starting from date the product is first used; this date and the subsequent checks must be
recorded on the product's life sheet: keep this literature for inspection and reference for the life of the device. Check the
legibility of the product's markings.
In case of one of the following defects are present, the product should be withdrawn from service immediately:
Ÿ cuts and/or burns on the lanyard rope [2],
Ÿ cuts and/or burns on the load-bearing stitchings [5],
Ÿ presence of cracks on any component,
Ÿ presence of permanent deformations on any component,
Ÿ unauthorised modifications made to the product (welds, boring...),
Ÿ corrosion that severely alters the surface condition of the metal (does not disappear after light rubbing with sandpaper),
Ÿ malfunction of the locking lever [1e], the action lever [1d]
Ÿ burrs, sharp edges, wear on the surface of the rope in contact with the locking lever [1e], the action lever [1d], the front
plate [1b], and the rear plate [1a]
Ÿ significant wear on any part of the device (>1mm),
Ÿ in case the red marking on the quick link (where present) is not in line anymore, a verification by a competent person is
required.
Any product or component showing any defect or wear, or if in doubt, should be withdrawn from service immediately. Each
product in the safety system can be damaged during a fall and must be always inspected before use it again. Do not
continue to use a product after a major fall because a damage may have occurred, even no external signs are visible.
