Assembling the seatpost in the frame
Attachment of this LOOK's patented seatpost
to the frame has several advantages
including absolute downwards support,
while absorbing vertical and transverse
vibrations as well as the height adjustment.
These functions are achieved using a single
screw, and forces applied on the various
parts are moderate.
30
OPERACIONS :
1/ Cut the seatpost to height
2/ Install the seatpost in the frame
IMPORTANT: Respect the following in-
structions scrupulously because the seat
tube cutting operation is irreversible. If
the seat height is not known with cer-
tainty, work in two steps, first by cutting
the tube longer than necessary (reduce
the length to be cut off described later in
the process by a few mm).
1/ Cutting the seatpost
to its height
1 – On the seatpost:
Check that the 3
preinstalled spacers are in place
2 – Insert the seatpost inside the frame and
adjust the horizontal position of the seat.
Use the previous position (FRONT/BACK)
(seat backwards movement)
4 – Tighten the seat carriage to the
recommended torque of 22 Nm
5 – Measure the height «B» of your new
cycle (Picture 1)
6 – Calculate the cut length «L» using the
formula: L = B - A (new seat height – old
seat height)
7 – Remove the seatpost
8 – Install the template:
Put the template at height «L» measured
from the saw cut and the top of the seat tube
(Picture 2).
9 – Tighten the template in position with the
transverse screw (Picture 3)
10 – Cut the tube to length, inserting the saw
(24 or 32 teeth / inch) in the saw cut (saw in
the vertical position) (Photo 4).
11 – Take the template off and deburr the end
of the tube. Make sure that the end of the
tube is clean and free of paint.
