PHOTO 172 & 173: Assemble the parts that make up the steam engine and paint it grey, red, gold and silver. Glue this
assembly into place flush with the hole for the coupling rod arms.
PHOTO 174: Cut the pillars (no. 213) to size and the reinforcements (no. 214). Check with the plans.
PHOTO 175: Cut the pillars to size as shown in the photo and glue them into place following the order indicated in the plans.
PHOTO 176: Paint all of the metal railings white. Start to fit an entire section behind the pillars. On the right hand side of the
photo a section must be cut to size.
PHOTO 177 to 180: On the upper deck fit two complete, painted, railing sections and then. continuing on the lower deck, glue
two more railing sections into place. Fit the handrails (nos. 220 & 221) onto the railing sections. On the other side glue the parts
indicated but do not attach handrails.
PHOTO 181: At the back fit the pillars (no. 219), a central railing and two sections on each side, then fit the handrail (no. 222).
PHOTO 182: Using the template provided, Put together the assembly of removable handrails, which can be removed so that the
interiors can be seen. As you put it together make sure that it will fit correctly to the side with the removable side walls.
PHOTO 183 to 185: Fit the rest of the pillars to this side of the hull using the corresponding eyebolts, railings, handrails, etc.
PHOTO 186 to 190: Cut to size and glue the rest of the fixed pillars to the right side of the hull. Add railings and handrails.
PHOTO 191 to 193: Glue the railings onto the pillars (nos. 230 & 231), making the necessary 0.75 mm diameter holes to insert
the pre-cut pins "A". Attach the chains (no. 232).
PHOTO 194 to 196: Paint the angle-brackets (no. 233) white before separating them from the sprues that attach them, and then
glue then to the inside of the pillars. Bend to of the angle-brackets 90º, so that they adapt to the final pillar on the deck.
PHOTO 197: Make up a stairway assembly with 9-steps, decorate it and attach it to the top deck. Add a small finish (no. 234) to
cover the slot.
PHOTO 198 to 200: Fit the pillars taking measurements from the plans. Make a hole before gluing them. Cut them to the
required height.
PHOTO 201 & 202: Make up the masts and stretchers (nos. 236, 238, 239 and 240) taking measurements from the plans, then
paint the bow masts dark grey and the stretchers white and all of the tops (no. 237) red.
PHOTO 203: Fit all of the pillars t(no. 235) to the lower deck and make up the rails. Paint using the colours shown.
PHOTO 204 & 205: Decorate the wheels (no. 243) and fit them onto the shaft (no. 242). Glue them into place at the distances
indicated, making sure that the opening for the paddle blades (no. 244) are aligned. Paint the paddle blades ochre.
PHOTO 206: Glue a washer (no. 245), only to the shaft, so that it is fixed. Fit the support (no. 246), remaining free. Glue the
other washer to the other side of the support and fix it just to the shaft. This will stop the support from falling.
PHOTO 207: Insert the rivet (no. 248) through the hold in the connecting rod arm (no. 249) but do not glue it. The rivet must
only be glued to the connecting rod (no. 247). In this way both pieces will be movable. Put together two assemblies.
PHOTO 208 & 209: Fit the turbine wheel to the stern and glue the supports (no. 246) to the hull reinforcements. On the right
side of the paddle wheel glue the sheave (no. 250), attached only to the shaft. Glue a connecting rod and arm assembly to the
right side with the connecting rod upwards, and another to the left side with the connecting rod downwards, as in the photo.
PHOTO 210: Decorate the casing (no. 251) and the bucket (no. 257). Use the same colours as for the steam engine. Glue the
casing to the engine and against the aft bulkhead, covering the connecting rod arm.
PHOTO 211: Assemble the rigging on the masts and the wires on the stretchers, as shown in the photos and plans.
PHOTO 212 to 215: Line just one side of the gangways (no. 258) using the lining. Glue the reinforcements (nos. 261 & 262) to
the gangways. File down the sides to leave them curved. Paint the sides and the bottoms ochre. Fit the eyebolts to the sides
and the bottom. Attach each of the gangways to the deck by tying off the eyebolts with the corresponding lengths of thread.
