REAR SHOCK ABSORBER SPRING PRELOAD
ADJUSTMENT
Perform the operation as follows:
remove the seat and the right side panel as described
-
in the relevant paragraphs;
clean lock ring nut (4) and adjuster ring nut (5) of the
-
spring (6);
either with a hook wrench or an aluminium punch,
-
loosen the lock ring nut;
turn the adjuster ring nut as required.
-
Note
To ensure proper operation of the shock absorber,
it is possible to screw the ring nut (5) by 2
revolutions max.
When the adjusting operation is over - according to
-
your weight and riding style - tighten the lock ring
nut (tightening torque 50 Nm - 5Kgm - 36.87 ft/lb).
Refit the right side panel and the seat.
-
WARNING
The shock absorber contains nitrogen
under pressure, DO NOT unscrew the valve
(7) because it would cause gas leakage,
impairing the correct operation of the
shock absorber.
To recharge the gas in the shock absorber,
it is necessary to contact the SWM Dealer.
CHAIN ADJUSTMENT
Chain should be checked, adjusted and lubricated as
per the "Maintenance Chart" to ensure safety and
prevent excessive wear. If the chain becomes badly
worn or is poorly adjusted (i.e., if it is too loose or too
taut), it could escape from rear sprocket or break.
To adjust the chain tension it is necessary to lower
the rear part of the motorcycle so as to achieve the
alignment of sprocket axle (A), swing arm rotation axle
(B) and rear wheel axle (C) as shown in the figure, then
let the rear wheel turn three times. In this condition the
chain must not be tight, even without arrow.
