Yearly dealer maintenance
We recommend having the equipment inspected, checked, set and tested once a year by a Holmatro
Certified Technician who has the appropriate knowledge and the necessary tools (see also section 1.7).
The Holmatro dealer can organize the yearly maintenance for you on a contract basis.

Long term storage
8.6.1
All types
Clean the pump and re-tighten any screws that may have come loose due to vibration.
Ensure that the equipment is completely depressurized.
Store the equipment in a dry, well-ventilated area. Use additional preservatives on the external steel
parts
8.6.2
Petrol engine
Do the same actions as for temporary storage. Refer to section 6.4
Drain the fuel tank:
DANGER
Petrol is extremely combustible and explosive in certain circumstances.
Only refill in well-ventilated areas.
Smoking is forbidden.
Close the fuel tank properly to prevent leaking.
Remove leaked fuel.
Note
Petrol ages within a few months. Old petrol can be difficult to start and can result in the
engine running unevenly. If it is certain that the pump will not be used within the next two
months, it is advisable to drain the petrol tank and the carburettor.
-
Take the fuel cap (Fig 2/10) from the engine.
-
Insert the suction hose from a siphon pump (Fig. 17) down to the lowest point of the fuel tank.
-
Use the siphon pump to siphon the fuel from the fuel tank into the jerry can (Fig. 17).
-
Screw the fuel cap (Fig. 2/10) back on the engine.
-
Start the engine and run it until the fuel tank and carburettor are totally empty.
-
Use the drained petrol before it gets too old.
Replace the engine oil. Refer to section 8.4.6.
Remove the spark plug. Drip a tablespoonful of engine oil in the cylinder. Pull on the pulling cord to
make the engine turn a few times, so the oil is well distributed. Install the spark plug.
Pull on the pulling cord until you feel resistance. Now the piston is in the position for coming up for
its compression stroke, and the intake valve and exhaust stem valve are closed. Storing the pump in
this condition prevents corrosion.
Apply preservative to all external steel parts.
