• If the fuel spills, make sure that the generator and the area where it is, are dry before starting the engine
again.
• Avoid prolonged contact of the fuel with the skin and breathing its steam.
• Keep the fuel out of the reach of children.
• In the case of the gasoline models, use lead-free gasoline with octane index over 86. We recommend using
unleaded gasoline in order to increase the service life of the exhaust system.
• The use of unsuitable fuels invalidates the warranty.
• Never use stale fuel, contaminated fuel or fuel mixed with oil.
• Avoid the presence of water inside the fuel tank.
• Occasionally there may be a pre-detonation (metallic noise) while operating under heavy load. This is com-
mon and should not be a reason for concern. If the pre-detonation persistently occurs even with smaller
loads, try changing the type of fuel by one with higher octane rating. If the pre-detonation continues, contact
an authorized service station.
• Some models have a fuel filter inside the tank, which should be periodically inspected to prevent clogging.
Note: Gasoline/Diesel fuels can damage the painting of plastic parts. Be careful not to spill fuel while refueling
the generator. Damages caused by fuel spilling are not included in the warranty.
18. Starting and turning off the engine
Starting the Engine
• Make sure the overload protector is in the OFF position. The generator might become heavy for starting if
there is equipment connected to it;
• Place the fuel valve in the ON position;
• Close the choke;
• Place the engine switch in the ON position.
Start
• Start with cord – pull the cord slightly until you feel resistance and then pull it sharply.
• Electric start – turn the key to the start position and hold it until the engine starts, then return it to the ON
position.
• After some seconds open the choke.
WARNING: Do not allow the cord to return violently to the spool in order to avoid damage to the starting system.
Return it smoothly.
Do not activate the starting engine for more than 5 seconds each time as it can be damaged. If the engine does
not activate in 5 seconds, wait at least 10 seconds and then start it again. If the starting engine rotation drops
after a while, the battery will need recharging.
