TROUBLESHOOTING
DANGER
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK.
Always disconnect power source before attempting to install, service, or maintain the pump. Never
handle a pump with wet hands or when standing on wet or damp surface or in water. Fatal electrical
shock could occur.
PROBLEM
POSSIBLE CAUSE
Backup pump
Connections are incorrect or loose
won't run
Wire terminal points are dirty
Battery is low
30 Amp controller fuse is blown
Pump runs but
Connections are incorrect or loose
delivers little or
no water
Weep hole is plugged and unit is air-
locked
Discharge pipe is blocked
Check valve may not be working
correctly. It should allow water to go out of
discharge pipe but not allow water to flow
back into the sump basin after pump has
shut off.
Float switch in
Pump is obstructed
'on' position for
3 seconds or
more but pump
won't run
Pump runs but
Incoming water is causing pump to air lock Divert incoming water to reduce
pumps water
intermittently
Water level
Battery is low
stays high but
If power is restored, check primary pump

Alarm sounds
Alarm needs to be reset
during battery
Battery is defective. Check voltage with a
recharge cycle
multimeter. Disconnect the controller from
the battery and re-check voltage. If voltage
is below 12V after disconnecting, battery
must be replaced.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Verify connections are correctly
installed
Check all terminals and clean if
required
Service or replace battery
Replace with 30 amp automotive
blade fuse
Verify connections are correctly
installed
Clean weep hole
Clear discharge pipe
Replace the check valve if necessary
Remove pump and clear any debris
from impeller or pump cavity
turbulence
Service or replace battery
Service or replace if required
Press 'Silence' button for 3 seconds
Check battery and replace if
necessary
