3.5. Anti-lock Braking System
The ABS is used to ensure optimum braking by avoiding the risk of skidding in
the event that the wheels lock.
a) Conventional brakes (ABS)
The ABS detects if one or more of the semitrailer's wheels lock and immediately
reduces pressure in the spring brakes, which ensures good tyre adhesion when
braking.
The system only works when the vehicle is doing 10 or more km/hr.
b) Electronic brakes (EBS)
The modulator includes the ABS and the braking corrector functions.
The braking instruction from the tractor unit to the semitrailer is electronic.
The braking setting according to the load is calculated electronically.
Some electronic braking systems (EBS) include stability control functions.
NB: a semitrailer with an EBS works best with a tractor unit that is also equipped
with an EBS. However, a semitrailer equipped with an EBS can be coupled to a
tractor unit with an ABS.

3.6. Balance

Your semitrailer's braking system has been designed to ensure optimum
harmonisation of the braking forces between the tractor unit and the trailer. This
is to ensure improved driving comfort and also balance brake wear between the
two vehicles.

3.7. Maintenance of brakes, axles and suspension

For these components, please consult the specific supplier's manual that was
provided with this user manual.
4. Lifting and Lowering
The semitrailer is equipped with a control used to adjust the height of the vehicle
so that the floor is on the same level as the loading/unloading platform.
¶ When you pull the handle, the vehicle is in the road position.

SR/Version 1 September 2004
Using this control:
¶ When you come to adjust the
vehicle after stopping, the handle
must be in.
¶ To lift the vehicle, turn the handle
anticlockwise.
¶ To lower the vehicle, turn the
handle clockwise.
¶ When you release the handle, the
semi remains in position.
