Autoclavable patient circuit (optional)
An autoclavable patient circuit, composed of:
• A reusable patient tube (1) (blue silicone) together with
its control tube (2),
• A reusable expiratory valve
To carry out maintenance procedures on the patient
circuit, refer to the user manual (§IV.4 for OSIRIS 2)
Setting up
• Connect one end of the ringed tube onto the outlet of
the OSIRIS 2 (standard conical outlet, 22 mm diameter).
• Whenever possible, fit a new bacteriological filter onto
the "patient" output of the expiratory valve.
• Connect the other end of the ringed tube to the input
of the expiratory valve (see schema below).
• Connect the OSIRIS 2 control to the diaphragm of the
expiratory valve via the small diameter open-ended
tube. When the connections are finished check that
the small diameter tube is not pinched.
Starting up
• Switch to the operating mode required; VAC/ACMV
100 % or VAC/ACMV Air + O
Check that the alarm circuit is working when starting
up OSIRIS 2. All the lamps should flash and an audible
signal should sound.
• Set the Pmaxi alarm threshold. Then close off the
patient outlet and check visually on the bargraph that
the patient circuit pressure is limited to (Pmax) (Pmax
adjustable from 10 to 80 cm H
• In VS-AI/PS mode, check that the selected pressure

sensor is working correctly.
• Check that everything is working normally (see checklist
before use).

The unit is ready and may be connected to the patient.
valve control
• Fix a mask, or intubation probe, or tracheostomy
cannula to the expiratory valve (or to the «
connection of the expiratory valve if you are using an
autoclavable patient circuit (diagram opposite))
• Whenever possible, fit a new bacteriological filter
onto the "patient" output of the expiratory valve.
