V. TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
V. 1. Operational principles
OSIRIS 2 is a frequency controlled ventilator (from 6 to 40 cycles/min), with adjustable I/E ratio (from 1/1 to 1/3 by steps
of 0.5.).
The gas supplied may be pure oxygen or a mixture of ambiant air/oxygen (FiO
The PEEP can be adjusted from 0 to 15 hPa (cmH
steps of 0.5 cmH
O) assures maximum patient comfort.
2
An adjustable minimum pressure alarm (5 to 10 cmH
adjustable Fmaxi alarm (from 20 to 60 cpm, in steps of 5 cpm) and an adjustable Pmaxi safety alarm (from 10 to 80
cmH
O) guaranteeing sure and efficient ventilation
2
The device is also fitted with:
• an ambient air inlet valve which allows the patient to breathe freely through the device should a breakdown occur,
• a safety valve calibrated to 90 mbar (cmH
V. 2. Technical characteristics
• Pressure displayed by bargraph of - 4 to 80 cmH2O (± 1 cmH
• Pneumatic supply: from 280 kPa (2.8 bar) to 600 kPa (6 bar).
• Electrical supply for alarms: battery pack, type NiMH 700 mAh. (8 elements of 1.2 Volt in series).
• Battery autonomy: 12 hours (VAC/ACMV 100 %, frequency = 20 c/min, I/E ratio = 1/2 and V
• Input: 230 V ~ / 50 Hz Output 15 V
• Electrical class: Class II
• Type of apparatus: Type B
• Power loss protection: Assured by the "Mains supply fault" alarm.
• Consumption in use:
• The unit alone: 1 l/min.
• In total: patient consumption + consumption of unit.
Example of consumption:
• For an adult, the average consumption is 6 l/min of gas (air or oxygen).
• The consumption of the unit is fixed at 1 l/min..
• In the case of the use of a type B compact cylinder, the cylinder volume can be 5 litres. The gas being com-
pressed to 200 bar, there is, in this case, 1000 litres of gas available.
• In the case of our example we have available therefore an autonomy of about 2 hours and 20 minutes if the
ventilation is made at a concentration of 100 % oxygen.
• Inspiratory and expiratory resistance of complete system: (reuseable circuit without bacteriological filter):
Flowrate
Insp R (cmH
30 L/min
60 L/min
• Flowrate and volume measurements are given in ATPD.
• Mode of operation: Continuous service
• Operating temperature limits: from -18°C to + 50°C (relative humidity < 95 %).
• Storage temperature: from -40°C to + 60°C (relative humidity < 95 %).
• For use in atmospheric pressure: from 700 to 1060 mbar.
• Size L x W x H = 250 x 210 x 170 mm
• Weight: 5.0 kg
• Volume of patient circuit with a standard 1500 mm tube: 570 ml for the tube + 10 ml for the valve.
V. 3. REGULATIONS AND STANDARDS
