5. Place the bird in the basket and shake it several times using the handles on the
sides of the basket.
6. After the time specified in the table above passes, pull out the basket and pluck
the bird. It is recognized that if the feathers come off the wings easily, they will
also come off the rest of the body.
7. If it is still difficult to pluck the bird, it should be scalded again.
8. After finishing work with the machine, turn the thermostat to 0 and remove the
plug from the socket.
9. Use the tap to drain the water from the tank.
PLEASE NOTE:
1. The bird should be put into the basket only when the water has reached the
right temperature.
2. Wear protective gloves when putting the bird in and shaking the basket to avoid
burning your hands.
3. The bird should be plucked immediately after it is taken out of the basket. The
more time it takes after the bird is removed from the basket, the more difficult it
will be to pluck it.
Recommendations for the scalding process:
1. Add salt to the water in the tank: it protects the skin from damage
2. Before placing the bird in the scalder, soak it in cold water: it protects the skin
and facilitates further processing of the poultry.
3. Add washing-up liquid: it removes the oil from feathers and makes it easier to
pluck them at a later stage.
STEP 2: PLUCKING
1. Check that the belt at the swivel plate is not too loose.
2. Connect the plug to the mains socket.
3. Turn the machine on using the switch.
4. When the plate starts to rotate, put the birds heads down into the drum.
5. Supply water to the drum by screwing the hose to the inlet on the outer wall of
the drum. Open the tap at the other end of the hose and let the water flow into
the drum. Turn the tap off when there is enough water. Water makes it easier to
pluck and remove the waste.
6. Estimated plucking time should be between 15 and 30 seconds. Observe the
plucking process and extend the time as needed. The plucking waste will be
drained with the water through an outlet underneath the drum.
7. Turn the machine off with the switch.
8. Pull out the bird.
9. Disconnect the machine from the power supply.
PLEASE NOTE: Too many birds in the drum will reduce the effectiveness of
plucking.
