The user and/or the patient will have to report any serious accident that have occurred related
the device to the manufacturer and appropriate authority of the State which the user and/or
patient belongs to.
It is forbidden to modify the parts of the TIBODA including the setting parameters of the
TIBODA engine control unit. MORETTI S.p.A. declines any responsibility for damage caused
by a non-original setting of the control unit.
TIBODA is not suitable to be mounted on pushchairs with transit wheels.
5.2 General information on electromagnetic disturbance
The rapid growth of electronics, especially in communications, has saturated the environment with
electromagnetic radiation (EM) emitted by TV, radios and communications equipment. These EM
waves are invisible and are stronger the closer you are to their source. All electrical conductors
act as antennas for EM signals and, to varying extents, wheelchair drives may also be affected by
electromagnetic interference (EMI). EMI may cause unintentional movements and irregular control
of the drive.
The electromagnetic energy emitted by sources such as:
• radio stations
• TV stations
• amateur radio
• shop alarm systems
• cellphones and cordless phone can interfere with electric wheelchairs and electric scooters
The interference can cause the regenerative brake to release, cause unintentional movement of the
device, or movement in the wrong direction. It can also permanently damage the device's controller.
In our everyday environment, there are a certain number of intense sources of EMI. The intensity
of the EM energy can be measured in Volts per metre (V/m). Your drive is equipped with protection
against EMI which has been tested and certified to be conforming with international regulations, up
to a certain intensity of the signal. This is called the "level of immunity". The greater the level of
immunity, the better the device is protected. At this time, technology can provide a level of immunity
of at least 20 V/m; this is sufficient protection against the most common sources of EMI. However,
we consider that the following precautions
can further minimise the risk.
A) Do not use portable radio transmitters, CB radios, cellphones or other personal communications
equipment when the drive is powered on.
B) Do not approach powerful radio and TV transmitters too closely.
C) If you feel that your scooter has moved or the brake has released in a way that you do not intend,
press the
OFF button as soon as you can do so safely.
D) Installing additional electrical equipment and modifying your scooter's motor may make it more
susceptible to EMI and hence make using the equipment hazardous. Note that doing so also voids
the warranty.
E) In any case, report any unintentional movement of the vehicle to your reseller or Moretti S.p.A.,
note it down in this manual and note down the fact that there is a source of electromagnetic
radiation in your vicinity, if any.
